Arsenal transfer news: Gunners suffer Dusan Vlahovic blow amid £67m Benjamin Sesko dilemma
Arsenal have less than two weeks to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad before the January transfer window closes, with the Gunners being urged to sign a new striker amid their fading Premier League title
The clock is ticking for Arsenal, who now have less than two weeks to get their chequebook out.
Mikel Arteta is yet to welcome any new signings in the January transfer window, which actually stays open until 11pm on Monday, February 3. The Gunners’ most concerning area is attack, as Bukayo Saka is ruled out until March with a torn hamstring while Gabriel Jesus’ crushing ACL injury is expected to sideline him for the majority of 2025.
Saturday’s calamitous 2-2 draw has rocked their Premier League title chances, with Arsenal now six points behind leaders Liverpool, who boast a game in hand. The games keep coming thick and fast, too, as Wednesday sees the Gunners host Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and a win would almost guarantee them a place in the knockouts.
Here’s a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates.
Chelsea target Vlahovic
Chelsea are weighing up a move Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who Arsenal have been linked with signing. Vlahovic, 24, has become available after talks to extend his contract stalled, with his current deal at Juve expiring in 2026.
The Serbian has had a mixed two-and-a-half years in Turin, netting 12 goals this season which makes him their leading scorer. But Vlahovic is also their highest earner and Juventus would be open to selling him, the Times report, with Chelsea already in talks with the Italian giants over defender Renato Veiga.

Arsenal discover Sesko price tag
Arsenal have learned RB Leipzig’s asking price for Benjamin Sesko – and it’s not much more than the release clause which they were reportedly willing to pay last summer. The 21-year-old striker was a top target for the Gunners before signing a new contract with Leipzig, who have an agreement to sell him should they receive €80million (£67m).
That’s according to Sky Germany, leaving Arsenal with a dilemma. The Gunners were interested in paying £55m for Slovenia international Sesko’s services just a few months ago, although they’ve spent heavily since and have already agreed to pay €60m (£51m) for midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the summer.
