Rodrygo has finally made his decision on potential Arsenal transfer

Arsenal remain in the market for a winger this summer, with Rodrygo still on Andrea Berta’s wishlist.
The Gunners have added six players to their ranks already in this transfer window, including the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke.
However, Mikel Arteta is still keen on strengthening the left-hand side of his attack, with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard flattering to deceive last season.
Eberechi Eze has emerged as Arsenal’s top target, although the North Londoners could yet turn to a more natural, out-and-out wide player off the left, with Rodrygo among the options they’ve considered.

Arsenal target Rodrygo wants to stay at Real Madrid
Arsenal were intently pursuing Rodrygo back in June, with the player said to be available on the market after Xabi Alonso’s team selection at the Club World Cup made it clear he isn’t deemed a first-choice option at Real Madrid.
However, after Noni Madueke was signed by Berta for £52 million from Chelsea, the Gunners’ pursuit of alternative wingers appeared to cool.
Now, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Eze, whilst Rodrygo has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Tottenham.
According to AS, the Brazilian has now decided that he won’t be leaving Real Madrid, and will instead remain at the Bernabeu and fight for his place.
The 24-year-old wants to win Xabi Alonso over, committing to ‘reverse his current situation’, which sees him behind the likes of Arda Guler in the pecking order.
Rodrygo was said to be contemplating a departure from the Spanish capital, but with Real Madrid demanding an excessive fee for his services, potential suitors have cooled their interest.
Instead, he’ll remain in Madrid and try to claw his place in the European giants’ side back.

Rodrygo had become too costly a signing for Arsenal anyway
While Rodrygo is a talented player who would have elevated the level of Arsenal’s attack, the player would’ve cost the Gunners too much money to justify the investment.
According to Capology, the Brazil international is earning €400,000-a-week (£349,000), and the Gunners would likely have had to match these demands to secure his signature.
This would’ve made him Arsenal’s highest-paid player by some distance.

Combining these wage demands with an excessive transfer fee, and the fact that he’s coming off the back of a poor season, and this move wouldn’t have been sensible for Berta to enact.
Instead, Eze should now be focused on, with Rodrygo’s decision a blow for Arsenal, but not a detrimental hindrance to their transfer plans.

Arsenal are now expected to make an official bid for ‘unplayable’ star before deadline day
Arsenal are still in the market to add further signings to their squad this summer.
Andrea Berta has been busy in his first transfer window as the club’s sporting director and has already brought six new signings through the door, most notably Viktor Gyokeres in a £63m deal.
The Gunners have also secured new contracts for the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Gabriel Magalhaes, whilst Ethan Nwaneri has also agreed a new deal.
Player sales are now the focus for Berta in order to raise funds for another attacking signing before the window closes. It has now been revealed who Arsenal are ‘anticipated’ to bid for before the September deadline.
