A couple of players on this list have certainly been rewarded for what most fans would consider unprofessional behaviour this past summer, demanding moves away from their teams and outright refusing to play until they got their desired transfer. One such example is former Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

 

Wissa developed well at the Hounslow-based club, taking on a more prominent role following the departure of Ivan Toney and likely set for an even bigger one after Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United. However, the striker was determined to move on himself, eventually forcing through a switch to Newcastle United, where he secured a lucrative £140,000-per-week salary.

The Frenchman will be hoping to get off to a flying start in England, especially considering Richarlison has found a new lease of life under new manager Thomas Frank.

 

Muani comes not just with Champions League experience, but having played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe in PSG and Juventus. Sadly, the 26-year-old missed the Champions League final victory for the Parisians due to his loan in Turin, but he has featured in a World Cup final. Saying thayt, he probably continues to see Emi Martinez’s 120th minute save from him in his nightmares still.

After winning the Premier League title during Arne Slot’s debut campaign, Liverpool went wild and splashed some serious cash after the 2024/25 season wrapped up. They brought in Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz for big money, but they weren’t done there. After Newcastle United rejected their bid for Alexander Isak, they turned to Hugo Ekitike and brought him to Anfield for around £69m.

 

It’s a gamble considering the striker scored just 15 goals in the Bundesliga last season, but the Reds are fully committed and they’re paying him £200,000 every single week. Time will tell whether it was genius business or a major misfire, but the way he has started at his new club is certainly promising.

After what felt like forever, Arsenal finally got their man and signed Viktor Gyokeres shortly before the 2025/26 campaign got underway. Mikel Arteta had been interested in the Swede for a while and considering how long they’d need an out and out goalscorer, he was prepared to pay a pretty penny to land him.

 

Gyokeres set the world alight with Sporting CP, scoring 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese club, so he didn’t come cheap. Arsenal spent an initial £55m on the striker and they are paying him £200,000-a-week. Still, if he helps them finally get their hands on the Premier League title again, after three straight seasons where they finished in second place, he’ll be worth every bit of it.

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus is a four-time Premier League champion. With credentials like those, the Brazilian was always going to command a high salary when he made the switch from Manchester City to Arsenal. He’s been unable to find his clinical edge at the Emirates but was still one of the signings that played a huge part in closing the gap to his former employers.

 

Having to compete with an in-form Kai Havertz for a starting place alongside Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli seemed to bring the best out of the Brazilian during December 2024, but any momentum he may have been building was halted after he sustained an ACL injury in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United the following month. With the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres this summer too, he’ll struggle to regain his spot.

He may be a divisive figure at the Emirates, but Kai Havertz is still one of the most available strikers at Arsenal, even if he is not the most clinical of goalscorers. Though he was far more productive last season than in previous years, he has still faced criticism for his performances, with Arteta having to launch strong defences for the player on more than one occasion. With Gyokeres now through the door, Havertz’s spot in the lineup may not be safe for much longer, but he will still be earning his eye-watering £280,000-per-week salary.

Insert the comments on Wissa forcing a move here. It is almost an identical story really, so by and large Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool could very much be a case of copying the comments about the man who now replaces him at St James’ Park and just fixing some of the key details.

 

However, what can’t be ignored is that Isak is one of the truly world-class players in the Premier League when he is on song. Therefore, it was really only a matter of time before a move like this transpired, even if it wasn’t done in the most diplomatic way. With a eye-watering £280,000 landing in his bank account every week, Isak will need to bang in the goals from the get-go, and best believe if he does he will be earning even more with some nice bonuses.

With Erling Haaland to contend with for a spot in the starting XI, it’s hard to imagine the Egyptian will have too many opportunities to start for City up top and he will probably have to play out wide or as a back-up, but it is a signing of pure quality and he’s gotten off to a promising start.

While he hasn’t quite hit the same heights since, he is still a goal machine and has signed a monstrous new contract worth more than half a million pounds a week.
