Liverpool confirm Federico Chiesa addition to Champions League squad

Liverpool have confirmed that Federico Chiesa has been added to the Reds’ Champions League squad, following a long-term injury to Giovanni Leoni.

The change has been approved by UEFA who introduced a new rule this season, allowing the replacement of a player who is sidelined for at least two months.

Leoni might be out for the season with an ACL injury he suffered on his Liverpool debut.

With no other senior centre-backs left out of the Champions squad, Liverpool decided to add Chiesa who has been impressive in the domestic competitions.
