The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely with agents and players in transfer negotiations after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted the agent has not acted in the best interests of his client.

“Cunha is very highly thought-of by a lot of clubs,” he told

“Whether he’s the answer to Arsenal’s problems, that’s for them to decide, but there has been interest there and they’ve been watching him this season.

“The issue with his agent worries me, because it’s something I’ve seen many times before.

“He wanted an improved deal, Wolves came up with an offer, everything was agreed, and then the agent decides he wants a bit more money or a new clause in the contract.

“I’ve heard that story time and time again, and it doesn’t reflect well on anybody.

“To agree a deal and then go back on it, it’s shocking really from the agent because he’s not doing his client any favours there – he’s made it all about himself.

“If Wolves aren’t willing to meet those new demands and won’t give him a new deal, I think Arsenal and a number of other clubs will be ready to punce if he becomes available.”
