Arsenal is in talks with Everton over a potential summer signing, with a move for one of their less-utilised players appearing likely.

Ben White has only made five Premier League appearances this season, with Arsenal’s preference for Jurrien Timber to take the role as starting right back no secret. This has then led to rumours beginning to circulate regarding a potential move for the 28-year-old when the season ends.
Sources have told Football Insider that Arsenal and Everton have discussed a move for the Englishman already, with the price tag for the right back already being discussed. The fee is said to be around £20-£25 million if White were to join David Moyes’ side.
Despite White’s lack of minutes this season, the club are set to stand in the way of an exit this month, Mikel Arteta conscious not to ruin the squad depth, especially considering his team currently sits at the top of the table in both the Premier League and Champions League standings.
Arsenal remain cautious over White deal
Football Insider recently revealed that Everton is incredibly keen to see a move for White, but recent developments have shown that a deal is far more likely to take place in the summer as opposed to the current January transfer window.
A move from the Emirates for White in the coming weeks has been labelled “unlikely”. At the end of the season, White will be left with just two years remaining on his contract, making the player available for a cut-price fee.
White’s lack of minutes is a direct result of Timbers sucess for the Gunners. The Dutch international has been a vital player in Arsenal’s top of the table sucess this season, however this has massivley impacted White’s playing time.
Timber has arguably been one of the strongest players in Arteta’s side in the first half of the season, with his shifts in defence making many hopeful the North London side will be lifting their first major trophy since 2019 at the end of the campaign.
While Timber’s contributions have been positive for the club as a whole, White has been left on the sidelines. In the 2023-24 season, White was a crucial player for Arsenal with 51 appearances in all competitions, totally different to the 13 games he’s managed so far this season.
Squad depth could block White exit
White hasn’t started a game since a 3-0 Champions League clash against Club Brugge in December. With no signs that Timber will lose the position of starting right back anytime soon, the 24-year-old only failed to make it into the starting 11 three times this season.

Due to this, a move for White may be seen as the best course of action for him and his representatives, however Arsenal are seemingly against this idea and are prepearing to stand in the way of this potentiality.
Even though White is no longer utilised in the way he once was, he remains an integral player within Arteta’s rotation. If Timber were to experience a long-term injury Whte would likely be the one the coaching staff calls upon, and without him a part of the squad, their chances to win titles would be dramatically reduced.
White remains a versatile player, and while his preferred position remains in the right back role he has been used in both the centre back and midfeild role in certain games, with this flexibillity once again vital for the Spanish head coach to maintain his strong squad depth.

Joe Gomez‘s fitness is the main talking point ahead of the match at Anfield, given his presence would provide cover at centre-back and full-back.
He didn’t train on Thursday, though, and Slot explained: “We have a little bit of hope that he might train on Saturday.
“So not available to start, but maybe available to help the team if needed during the game because, as you know, there are not that many defenders available at the moment.”
With Giovanni Leoni out until next season, academy defenders Amara Nallo and Wellity Lucky have made the bench in the Premier League a combined five times this season.
The latter is injured, however, so unable to come in against Man City.
Nallo got injured during Tuesday’s UEFA Youth League exit to MSK Zilina, but was named to start for the U21s on Saturday, meaning he will not be available at Anfield.
As for Lucky’s injury, the 20-year-old is set to be sidelined until April due to a hamstring injury sustained in training midway through January.
Also on Liverpool’s list of absentees is right-back Conor Bradley, who will miss the rest of the campaign.
Like Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong is currently injured but his outlook is more positive than his teammate’s.
Slot gave a brief update on the flying Dutchman’s fitness, saying he “will definitely not train this week” due to his ongoing groin problem.
With Nallo featuring at academy level, Liverpool will be without six defensive options against Man City.
