You need the team to win an individual prize’: Arne Slot weighs in on Mo Salah’s Ballon d’Or chances

Arne Slot was asked about Mohamed Salah’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or for this season.
“It’s mostly about attackers but the last winner was the midfielder,” the Liverpool boss said, referring to Man City’s Rodri.
The situation between Dusan Vlahovic and Juventus appears to be a marriage that’s doomed to end. With the Serbian striker – whose contract expires in 2026 – and the Juventus board showing a cold attitude towards a renewal, the club itself seems keen to refresh its attacking department this summer, even financing the purchase of a new centre-forward by selling their former Fiorentina man. However, Vlahovic is determined to stay until his contract expires in order not to forgo the massive €12 million salary guaranteed to him in his final year with Juventus.
This scenario is uncomfortable for all parties involved. Consequently, rumors about Vlahovic’s future have been swirling. After links with Saudi Arabia and Barcelona, a new rumor has emerged connecting him with Fenerbahce, who are on the hunt for a successor to the 39-year-old Edin Dzeko. According to Sport Mediaset, Dusan even earned the admiration of Jose Mourinho before politely turning down the offer.
Vlahovic’s dream, however, appears to be a move to the Premier League – his preferred destination for two main reasons: the technical quality of the league and, above all, the possibility of continuing to earn a double-digit salary. The coming months will be decisive in determining whether a top English club steps in for Dusan or if the Serb will have to settle for a move to a second-tier side.

Giuntoli on Juventus’ elimination by PSV: ‘We are angry and disappointed for both economic and image reasons’
“Good thing Mo is in discussion as that means he is doing well and that means we are doing well.
“In general, someone who wins the Ballon d’Or needs to win something as well. What I liked a lot is that he took this challenge with a big goal and assist v City but the defensive work rate in the second half particularly was outstanding.
“If we as a team win something he has a far better chance to win the Ballon d’Or. It would make his chance only bigger (if we win the Champions League) but the last one who won it didn’t.
“It’s not just about the amount of prizes you win, but most of the ones who won won the league or Champions League. But football is always like this – you need the team to win an individual prize. But Mo understands that.”
This season, Salah has already scored 30 goals and provided 21 assists in 38 games for Liverpool across all competitions.
The Egyptian is heading towards his best individual season ever, but his chances to win the Ballon d’Or will likely depend on the Champions League.
