Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid has been linked with Arsenal

Arsenal are back in Premier League action this weekend, but may also have an eye on Monday’s transfer deadline over the next couple of days. The Gunners have until February 2 to complete their transfer business, should they decide to go into the market for any new signings.

Mikel Arteta and Co. are currently preparing to face Leeds United in the Premier League this weekend, where they will be determined to return to winning ways after their defeat to Manchester United last week.

Arsenal did beat FC Kairat in the Champions League in midweek, and now the attention will turn back to the top flight and the quest for a Premier League title.

Julian Alvarez claim

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez.

It has been reported by TEAMtalk that the Gunners are looking to sign Alvarez, with suggestions that some players may be included in the deal to head in the opposite direction.

The report claims that Arsenal have been regularly scouting Alvarez in recent weeks, and two players are being mentioned as being lined up as part of a potential swap deal.

It has been stated that Arsenal would be willing to include Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus in a swap deal with a view to signing Alvarez, but not until the summer.

Eduardo Camavinga interest

Arsenal are being mentioned as one of the clubs reportedly interested in a deal for Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga.

According to Caught Offside, the Gunners will compete with Liverpool for the signing of Camavinga in the summer, although whether the La Liga giants would sanction an exit is unclear at this stage.

Liverpool are mentioned in the report as the club who are expressing the strongest interest at this stage, but Arsenal are also said to be looking at the possibility of strengthening their midfield, with Camavinga mentioned as a potential option.

It has been reported that Camavinga is being valued at up to £86million (€100million), but it has also been claimed that Real would not look to sell the midfielder at any price.

Zinchenko ‘completes medical’

Oleksandr Zinchenko is reportedly closing in on a permanent move away from Arsenal.

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has claimed that Zinchenko has now completed a medical to become an Ajax player, with a permanent switch on the verge of being completed.

Zinchenko spent the first half of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, but is now on the verge of leaving Arsenal on a permanent basis to move to the Eredivisie.

GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 Man City (Szoboszlai, 74)

HE’S DONE IT AGAIN!

An absolutely sensational free-kick goal from Dominik Szoboszlai. This one might be even better than the one against Arsenal.

From a central position, around 25 yards out, it’s an absolutely sensational hit which swerves out of reach of Donnarumma, who doesn’t even dive, and slams into the net off the post.

Amazing. And what could that mean for the title race? Arsenal staying nine points clear as it stands.

Liverpool FC team news vs. Man City: 6 defenders unavailable for Arne Slot

Liverpool have six defenders unavailable for their game against Man City, with Arne Slot‘s hand forced at centre-back and right-back.

Liverpool are down to their bare bones at the back, with six defenders unable to start as the Reds try to keep pace with their top-four competitors in the Premier League.

Joe Gomez‘s fitness is the main talking point ahead of the match at Anfield, given his presence would provide cover at centre-back and full-back.

He didn’t train on Thursday, though, and Slot explained: “We have a little bit of hope that he might train on Saturday.

“So not available to start, but maybe available to help the team if needed during the game because, as you know, there are not that many defenders available at the moment.”

With Giovanni Leoni out until next season, academy defenders Amara Nallo and Wellity Lucky have made the bench in the Premier League a combined five times this season.

The latter is injured, however, so unable to come in against Man City.

Nallo got injured during Tuesday’s UEFA Youth League exit to MSK Zilina, but was named to start for the U21s on Saturday, meaning he will not be available at Anfield.

As for Lucky’s injury, the 20-year-old is set to be sidelined until April due to a hamstring injury sustained in training midway through January.

Also on Liverpool’s list of absentees is right-back Conor Bradley, who will miss the rest of the campaign.

Like Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong is currently injured but his outlook is more positive than his teammate’s.

Slot gave a brief update on the flying Dutchman’s fitness, saying he “will definitely not train this week” due to his ongoing groin problem.

With Nallo featuring at academy level, Liverpool will be without six defensive options against Man City.
