Rasmus Hojlund And Luke Shaw To Start; Joshua Zirkzee Out: United’s Predicted XI To Play Arsenal

Ruben Amorim secured his first league win as Manchester United manager at the weekend.

The 4-0 scoreline against Everton probably flattered the home side somewhat, although the Red Devils were very clinical in front of goal.

Amorim will be hoping for the same level of finishing when they travel to face title challengers Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.

Press the next page as we predict United’s lineup for the game.

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Andre Onana – has the most clean sheets (6) in the Premier League this season which is an impressive achievement.

RWB – Amad Diallo – the Ivorian has grabbed his first-team chance since the appointment of Amorim.

CB – Noussair Mazraoui – even though he is playing out of position, the fullback has performed his duties well.

CB – Matthijs de Ligt – the Dutchman’s lack of pace is rarely exposed when asked to play in the middle of a back three.

CB – Luke Shaw – with Lisandro Martinez suspended, the left-back may get his first start of the season.

LWB – Diogo Dalot – the Portuguese international may have to track back a lot and double up on the in-form Bukayo Saka.

Midfield

CM – Casemiro – the midfielder didn’t put in a great performance against Everton but he has started both of Amorim’s league games so far.

That would suggest Casemiro will get the nod to play at the Emirates on Wednesday night.

CM – Manuel Ugarte – with Kobbie Mainoo serving a one-match ban, Amorim could go with Christian Eriksen or, potentially, Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role like he did against Bodo/Glimt.

However, you have to win the midfield battle against Arsenal so Ugarte’s ball-winning skills may earn him a recall to the starting eleven.

Forwards

RW – Marcus Rashford – the forward got himself a brace at the weekend so his confidence should be sky-high.

CF – Rasmus Hojlund – the Dane was surprisingly dropped in favour of Joshua Zirkzee after he scored twice versus Bodo/Glimt.

After Zirkzee bagged a brace himself versus Everton, it will be interesting to see whether Amorim keeps faith with the Dutchman or rotates once again. With United playing every few days, the manager may opt for Hojlund’s fresh legs.

LW – Bruno Fernandes – the captain is a minor doubt for the Arsenal fixture but he should be in contention to play.
