A quiet January transfer window is often a sign of a club well run, and Liverpool was never likely to spend big this month given the healthy state the squad is in.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only injury concern Arne Slot has right now after Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones all returned to training last week, so there was no need for the Reds to sign injury cover in any position, and major additions were clearly not necessary considering how well the team has performed all season.
Ex-Liverpool defender points out big Arne Slot problem – ‘it’s a mass’
In terms of significant outgoings, Darwin Nunez was the subject of interest from some clubs in Saudi Arabia, but the Reds were not willing to entertain selling him this month, although he could be offloaded at the end of the season, while Federico Chiesa was linked with a return to Serie A amid his lack of game time, but his future at Anfield looks a lot brighter right now after making a few appearances in recent weeks
Still, although there were no major arrivals or departures at Liverpool, there was still some movement, with several youngsters finding new clubs, either permanently or on loan. Stefan Bajcetic joined Las Palmas until the end of the season after his RB Salzburg move was terminated, while Dominic Corness, Kaide Gordon and Calvin Ramsay all completed loan deals to other British clubs, with Corness joining Gillingham, Gordon moving to Portsmouth and Ramsay heading north of the border to Kilmarnock.
Striker Jayden Danns’ loan move to Sunderland was confirmed on Tuesday, along with news of a minor knock for the striker and a new contract. Here’s the full list of Liverpool’s transfers during the January transfer window…
