Liverpool exploring move to sign Antoine Semenyo after transfer mission’

Liverpool are weighing up a potential move to sign Antoine Semenyo after sending scouts to keep track of his development at the Vitality Stadium.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old has impressed with his performances this season.

However, there are doubts about whether he is of the standard the Reds are looking at to improve their attacking options amid ongoing speculation.

Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have all been linked with moves away from Anfield as Brown told Football Insider Liverpool want to sign a world-class replacement.

As a result, they are set to assess a number of options, but have been keeping a close eye on the Ghana international as a long-term option.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 1 December that Bournemouth are open to offers for Semenyo as Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle have been tracking his progress.

Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a move away from Bournemouth.

Brown told Football Insider in November that Semenyo is not a priority for Liverpool and instead there are alternative names higher on their shortlist.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the Reds have had their scouts tracking a number of potential options.

“I think they have doubts about that one, to be honest,” he told Football Insider.

“I don’t want to be critical of him because it’s quite the reverse of that, I think he has done remarkably well to come from where he was to where he is now.

“He was a reserve player at Bristol City, had a loan spell at Newport where I watched him a couple of times.

“At that point I wouldn’t have expected him to be as good as he is, so he deserves a lot of credit.

“But he’s not quite in that top echelon of Premier League players.

“I don’t think he would go into Liverpool and immediately improve their team.

“Their scouts have been keeping an eye on him this season, but I think they’ll come to the same conclusion as I have.

“From what I hear, they’re going to look at more high-profile options in his position because he’s not the only one they’ve been looking at.”

Arne Slot plots move to sign West Ham star Jarrod Bowen

As Liverpool turn their attentions towards more high-profile attacking targets, one name at the top of their list is West Ham star Jarrod Bowen.

The winger has been a long-term target at Anfield after Football Insider revealed in January 2022 that Liverpool were “hot” on signing Bowen.

More recently, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool want to sign Bowen as a potential alternative to Mohamed Salah and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
