Arteta: Kepa’s mindset ‘very good’ despite Wembley error
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC Sport on FA Cup importance after Carabao Cup final defeat:
“We want to get back on track as quick as possible. We are close to being back at Wembley. We are going to have to earn it today. We know the opponent and the form they are in, but we really want it.”
On Kepa’s mindset after his error at Wembley: “Very good. He has plenty experience. When you play there is always the chance that you can make errors. He is a great keeper; he has been playing so well in the competitions. He took us to Wembley, so he deserves to play.
How close were Saka, Rice and Trossard to being available: “Very close. Let’s see [if they’re back in midweek].”

Gabriel Magalhaes injury update after Arsenal star limps off in FA Cup disaster
Gabriel was forced off midway through the second-half
Arsenal are sweating on another potential injury blow after Gabriel Magalhaes was forced off in their FA Cup defeat against Southampton.
After Manchester City ended their quadruple bid, the Gunners crashed out of a second competition on Saturday night after a shock defeat at St Mary’s.
Mikel Arteta’s side trailed at half-time after an error from Ben White led to Ross Stewart scoring the opener for the hosts before Viktor Gyokeres levelled the quarter-final tie after 68 minutes with.
Shea Charles scored a winner for Saints five minutes from the final whistle, sparking jubilant celebrations among the home crowd.
It was a woeful night for Arsenal and there will be concern for Gabriel who was forced off with 20 minutes of the game remaining.
The Brazil international was among the clutch of players not involved for their respective nations during the international break but was named in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI at St Mary’s on Saturday night.
His evening came to an end after 73 minutes with the centre-half replaced by Gabriel Saliba. Gabriel was seen sat among the Arsenal subs with his right knee elevated with an ice pack applied.
Speaking after the game, Arteta revealed Gabriel asked to be replaced, describing the situation as ‘not ideal.’
Arteta said in his post-match press conference when asked about the Brazilian: ‘I don’t know. He felt something, we don’t know exactly what it is.
‘But when a player asks to be substituted, it is not ideal.’
Saliba, who replaced his teammate after the knock, was another who missed the international break as he recovered from an ankle issue.
Gabriel missed 10 games earlier in the season with a thigh injury he suffered while on international duty with Brazil last November.
Arsenal will be hoping the issue is not a serious one with a hectic fiixture schedule ahead, back in action away to Sporting CP in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Bournemouth visit the Emirates next weekend before Sporting come to town for the return leg.

Player of the Match: Leo Scienza
Saints set their stall out early with the magnificent Leo Scienza causing mayhem on the break without finding the final finish.
The returning Martin Odegaard was denied from 20 yards by Daniel Peretz and then scuffed an effort wide, with Dowman and Kai Havertz next to have chances as the Gunners started to click into gear. But the opening goal didn’t go their way.
Ben White misjudged a long ball and Stewart brought down before rifling home.
The 35th-minute goal sparked bedlam around St Mary’s and stunned Arsenal, who offered precious little by way of response before the break.
Southampton went closer again after the interval, with Scienza cutting on to his right just inside the box and bending a wonderful effort that struck the crossbar.
Arteta had made a triple change just before that and one of those introduced levelled in the 68th minute. Gabriel slipped through Havertz, who took a touch before pulling back for Gyokeres to level with a sharp finish.
Arsenal were then forced into a change as Gabriel limped off to be replaced by Saliba.
With Arsenal allowing the game to drift, Saints managed to squeeze the ball forward to Charles in the 85th minute and the substitute strucka famous winner.
The Gunners are currently nine points clear at the top of the Premier League over Manchester City. It’s very much in their hands.
However, with so many players out of form and injuries mounting again, does this leave Arsenal vulnerable to the City charge? It’s Sporting Lisbon next up in midweek in the Champions League.
Arteta: I love my players, I won’t criticise them
