Arsenal appear set for a defining summer transfer window ahead of the 2025/26 season with Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta targeting several marquee moves.
Signings in attack and midfield are the clear priorities, with yet another goalkeeper also needed. Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Nico Williams, Bryan Mbeumo and Bilal El Khannouss have all been linked alongside the expected addition of midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Sanctioning exits will be required to balance the club’s books financially, but it is not just transfers that are on the agenda as Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly are expected to sign new contracts. A surprise renewal for Thomas Partey is also on the card, too.
Arteta may therefore be keen to give Merino minutes there against Bournemouth in preparation for the trip to Paris.
Arsenal likely XI (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Saka, Merino, Trossard
Injured: Calafiori (knee), Gabriel (hamstring), Havertz (hamstring), Jesus (knee), Jorginho (rib), Tomiyasu (knee)
Ineligible: Neto (cannot fact parent club as on loan from Bournemouth)
Arsenal squad from: Porter, Raya, Setford; Kacurri, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly, Saliba, Tierney, Timber, Zinchenko; Merino, Nwaneri, Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Martinelli, Saka, Sterling and Trossard.
