Arne Slot drops major update on Liverpool transfers The club wants to strengthen TWO positions
Slot outlines Liverpool’s transfer reality for summer window
Arne Slot has made clear that Liverpool will likely need to sell players this summer to fund incoming transfers as the club continues its transition.
“Last year we made quite a lot of signings and that’s why we traded that much. In four windows had net spend of £150m. That says what kind of club we are,” Slot said. “We know we are changing at least two players, but Kostas is coming back.”
The Liverpool boss confirmed the primary focus is deciding how to replace Mohamed Salah. “First aim is to see how we react in position of Mo whether we want to replace with similar player or do that differently. At this moment of time there’s not a chance of a lot of players leaving.”
Slot noted Ibrahima Konate’s contract situation remains a key talking point, adding that limited incomings could mean less need for heavy squad training.

Liverpool will not accept loan bids for Rio Ngumoha this summer
Liverpool reportedly have no intentions of sending their attacking sensation, Rio Ngumoha, out on loan ahead of next season.
Rio Ngumoha’s future has been up in the air for months. With him struggling to get regular game time at Anfield under Arne Slot, the teenager has been linked with a temporary move away. However, that is unlikely to be the case.
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool will reject any loan offers for the 17-year-old left-winger. While he hasn’t had much game time this season, the Reds have earmarked him for a big role in the 2026/27 season.
Liverpool snapped him up from Chelsea’s youth setup in the summer of 2024, and in less than a year’s time, he got promoted to the Merseyside club’s first team. The teenager already has 25 first-team appearances and has even bagged two goals.
While he prefers playing out wide on the left flank, the 17-year-old is capable enough to take up any role in the final third. The Reds decided against signing a new left-winger last summer, with Ngumoha’s development in mind.

Ngumoha will continue at Anfield
Despite that, the teenager has had to be patient to wait for his chances. While he was hardly playing for the majority of the first half, the former Chelsea winger has been involved in each of their last six league games and even bagged a goal in their last outing against Fulham.
The Reds are quite impressed with what they have seen from him. As a result, they have decided to keep him around for next season as well. While quite a few clubs have been linked with him and would love to sign him on loan, Liverpool won’t even accept a temporary departure.
They do not intend to let him head out to gain experience. They have him in their plans for next season, and he is expected to have a much more prominent role going forward. While Slot has been careful with how he has used that youngster, things are set to change heading into the 2026/27 season
