Victory for United in next week’s Europa League final could help them in their efforts to sign a new forward or two, with Matheus Cunha among those waiting to see it Champions League football will be in store at Old Trafford

Arsenal looking to snatch Chelsea’s Santos

 

Arsenal transfer chief Andrea Berta is looking to wrap up a deal for Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos.

 

Brazilian midfielder Santos joined the Blues in 2023 but is still waiting on his first team debut after a series of loans.

 

He has impressed on loan in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg this season, and Le10Sport reports that the Gunners are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve over the one-cap Brazil international.

 

Frimpong move draws closer

Jeremie Frimpong’s move to Liverpool is on the verge of being completed according to Kicker.

 

However, there a few more details to be wrapped up before the Bayer Leverkusen star moves to Anfield.

 

Frimpong, a former Manchester City academy prospect, can play anywhere down the right-hand side and has 23 goals and 28 assists for Leverkusen in 133 Bundesliga outings.

 

Zubimendi not the only Real Sociedad man on the move

Arsenal-linked Martin Zubimendi could be followed out the exit door by Real Sociedad team-mate Brais Mendez.

 

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mendez is a target for teams in Spain and overseas.

 

The 28-year-old has played 41 games this season in all competitions, featuring in both legs of the Europa League exit at the hands of Manchester United.

 

Carlo Ancelotti’s first Brazil task

After being confirmed as Brazil boss, Carlo Ancelotti has been given a start date of May 26.

 

The Italian will have less than a fortnight to prepare for his first game in charge, away at Ecuador on June 6, with a home meeting with Paraguay to follow five days later.

 

Brazil sit fourth in South American qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with six teams making it through automatically, and maximum points from the two games would essentially ensure qualification.

 

Bayern want Wirtz for Club World Cup

Bayern Munich have already opened negotiations over a deal for Florian Wirtz in the hope they can have the German in their Club World Cup squad from the get-go, according to Sky Deutschland.

 

Wirtz, valued by Bayer Leverkusen at around £100-110million, is understood to favour a Bayern move despite Manchester City interest.

 

Vincent Kompany’s side begin their Club World Cup campaign against Auckland City on June 15, with Boca Juniors and Benfica rounding out their group.

 

West Ham star Fabianski faces uncertainty

Lukasz Fabianski will leave West Ham this summer when his contract expires, but his next move is uncertain.

 

Former club Legia Warsaw had been linked, though sporting director Michal Zewlakow claims the veteran goalkeeper “didn’t pick up” when contacted by the club.

 

Fabianski, 40, spent two seasons with Legia early in his career and won the league with the club in 2006.

 

Club World Cup registration and what it means for Alexander-Arnold

Teams involved in this summer’s Club World Cup are able to register new players midway through the tournament, and this could have a bearing on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future.

 

Real Madrid could still negotiate a fee with Liverpool to ensure the right-back is available for the group stages, but they may prefer to embark on the early games without him and bring him in for the knockouts.

 

They do, of course, still need to make it out of the group. Al Hilal, Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg stand in their way, with the group winners playing their round of 16 game on July 1 – after Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract expires

An unnamed club is ready to test Monaco’s resolve with a bid in the region of £30m for Mika Biereth, according to L’Equipe.

 

The sum is more than twice what Monaco paid Sturm Graz for the striker, and nearly 10 times what Sturm paid Arsenal in 2024.

 

Biereth has 13 league goals this season, helping his new club secure a top-three finish in Ligue 1.

 

Big day for Premier League target Bellingham

Liverpool hold Frimpong talks

Liverpool have held advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong as they seek to replace the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold. Frimpong has seen his stock rise in Germany and the Reds are considering him as a summer signing.

 

Those at Anfield are having to fill the huge void left by Alexander-Arnold, who has allowed his contract to wind down ahead of an imminent move to Real Madrid. Frimpong has excelled in a Leverkusen outfit that claimed the Bundesliga and German Cup double last term.

 

The 24-year-old, who can play as a conventional right-back and as a wing-back, is planning to leave the Bundealiga outfit this summer and that is made easier by a release clause in his contract. Sky Germany reports that Liverpool could land him for just under £30m.

 

Liverpool set Elliott price tag

Five Premier League clubs are interested in signing Harvey Elliott this summer, according to Caught Offside. The ex-Fulham man has been largely a squad player at Anfield with Slot using him as an impact sub, if at all.

 

Wolves, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are monitoring the player. If Liverpool do part with Elliott they are likely to demand a fee of around £40m-£50m.

 

However it is understood that the Reds’ demand could drop significantly if their asking price puts off suitors and a lack of bids materialise.

 

Real Madrid yet to submit offer to TAA

Real Madrid have still not made an offer to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold early, reports Sky Sports.

 

A week ago they contacted Liverpool to ask about the right-back playing for them in the Club World Cup next month, but no formal offer has been put to the player.

 

Alexander-Arnold announced last Monday that he would be leaving Liverpool when his contract expires on June 30 and the Spanish giants have been tipped to sign him a free agent.

Hansi Flick has agreed a new two-year deal with Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

 

Former Bayern Munich and Germany manager Flick has been a tranformative appointment for Barca, who can clinch the La Liga title this week after yesterday’s 4-3 win at home to Real Madrid.

 

Flick has previously stated that he doesn’t like planning too far ahead but is loving life in Cataluyna.
