Arsenal receive transfer green light to complete three-year mission as £35m chance emerges
Latest Arsenal transfer news with the Gunners finally having the opportunity to sign Dusan Vlahovic this summer
Dusan Vlahovic is expected to leave Juventus in this summer’s transfer window at a bargain price
Arsenal could finally sign Dusan Vlahovic in this summer’s transfer window three-and-a-half years on from losing out on his signature to Juventus.
The need for an elite-level striker in Mikel Arteta’s squad has been clear for some time and it finally looks as though that will be sanctioned this summer. Benjamin Sesko, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres are the top options with the latter seemingly top of the list.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is a big fan of Gyokeres and multiple reports in Portugal suggest that an agreement has already been reached for the Sweden international to seal a switch from Sporting CP to north London.
The 26-year-old netted his 53rd goal of the season on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Vitoria sealing a third consecutive Liga Portugal title. Gyokeres and Sporting can win a second trophy next weekend when they face fierce rivals Benfica in the Taco de Portugal final.
Gyokeres was quizzed on his future amidst the celebrations post-match, but he unsurprisingly opted to remain coy on the topic.
“It’s football, I’m still here,” the 26-year-old told Portuguese broadcaster Sport.TV, as per Record, after Sporting’s title triumph. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. Nobody can predict the future.”
If Arsenal opt to go elsewhere in their bid to sign a striker or a different club wins the race for his signature, Arsenal are most likely to go for RB Leipzig’s Sesko. Groundwork for the Slovenia international was completed last summer but he opted to sign a new contract in Germany.
His asking price has also seemingly increased up to somewhere in the region of £85million which may mean it makes more sense to try and finally bring in Vlahovic.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Serbian forward is still expected to leave Juventus ahead of the 2025/26 season with his contract expiring in just over 12 months. Despite scoring his 15th goal of the campaign off the bench against Udinese to help the Italian giants strengthen their grip on Champions League qualification.
Reports in Italy have claimed he could leave for as little as £35million which presents a bargain opportunity for Arsenal.
However, there is a reason that Juventus are choosing not to try and keep hold of the 26-year-old and therefore it should really be a last resort for Arsenal if they cannot sign Gyokeres or Sesko.
