Liverpool are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Goncalo Ramos as they continue their search for a new centre-forward to lead their attacking reshuffle ahead of next season.

The 23-year-old Portugal international is not believed to be at the top of the club’s shortlist, but according to Anfield Watch, Ramos is under serious consideration by the Merseyside club. He is viewed as a potential ‘Moneyball’ signing – a value-for-money player who could offer efficiency and impact without the heavy price tags attached to some of the other names linked.

Ramos was signed by PSG from Benfica for an initial €65m, but struggled to nail down a starting place under Luis Enrique last season.

With PSG keen to bring in an attacker more suited to Enrique’s system and Ramos eager for regular first-team football, a move this summer is seen as a real possibility. The French champions are open to selling him for a fee close to what they paid Benfica.

Liverpool’s recruitment team reportedly see this as a bargain in the current market. RB Leipzig are said to want more than €80m for Benjamin Sesko, while Julian Alvarez and Alexander Isak would command fees of over €120m and €180m respectively. Even Hugo Ekitike, now with Eintracht Frankfurt, is valued at €100m.

Ramos previously drew attention from Liverpool back in 2022. Then-sporting director Julian Ward was said to be keen on the striker, though Jurgen Klopp preferred Darwin Nunez. Now, with Pedro Marques, formerly of Benfica, part of FSG’s setup and Ward still possessing strong contacts in Portugal, the Reds are in a position to make a well-informed decision.

Should Liverpool opt for a traditional poacher to lead their line – one capable of finishing chances supplied by creative talents like Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah – Ramos may rise quickly up the list of potential targets.
