Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz start, Robertson gone: Liverpool predicted XI for opener
Arne Slot is set to have a new look Liverpool side for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The Dutchman steered the Merseyside giants to the top-flight glory this term with a squad made up almost entirely of players signed by his legendary predecessor Jurgen Klopp.
But the Reds have already made moves in the summer transfer market, having signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
Frimpong could prove to be a solid replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real Madrid, while Liverpool continue to close in on Florian Wirtz.
Like the Dutch full-back, Wirtz has starred for Leverkusen, and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is also close to joining Liverpool.
Meanwhile, the Reds could witness high-profile departures, as Luis Diaz has attracted serious interest from Saudi Arabia.
Uruguay forward Darwin Nunez also appears set for an Anfield exit, having endured a poor campaign in front of goal.
On the other hand, Liverpool are interested in a move for Alexander Isak, who would add yet more quality to their attack.

Kerkez and Frimpong set to start in new-look Liverpool lineup
Slot will likely adopt the same 4-2-3-1 formation, as seen this term, while the likely addition of Wirtz could see Dominik Szoboszlai adopt a deeper midfield role alongside Ryan Gravenberch.
Meanwhile, Kerkez will likely become Liverpool’s first-choice left-back with the ever-reliable Andy Robertson becoming the Hungary international’s deputy.
With Diaz set for an Anfield departure, Isak would start up front for Slot’s men, providing plenty of firepower.

Liverpool could be in for a tougher title challenge next season
Liverpool deserve plenty of credit for winning their second Premier League title in five years during Slot’s first season in the Anfield dugout.

However, the Reds were not given a tough title challenge by Arsenal, while former top-flight champions Manchester City dropped well below their usual standards.
Even with the potential addition of Isak, Slot’s men should brace themselves for the Gunners to strengthen their own forward line this summer.
Meanwhile, having already begun their rebuild during the summer transfer window, with the additions of Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov, Man City will be eager to knock Slot’s men off their perch.
Furthermore, Liverpool could initially struggle to adjust to life without Alexander-Arnold, even though Frimpong’s Leverkusen exploits suggest he is ready to fill the Liverpudlian’s boots.
Meanwhile, Ian Darke exclusively told Liverpool News that he does not believe Frimpong is guaranteed a place in Slot’s starting lineup.
