More shocking claims have been made in Portugal regarding Arsenal’s transfer pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres.

Their report claims that the Gunners put forward a bid totalling £55million (€65m) with £8.4million (€10m) of that being add-ons.

The Gunners lodged their first proposal – worth £46.8million plus bonuses – but Sporting CP are holding out for a much higher fee and closer to his reported £85m release clause.

But now, Mikel Arteta’s side are anticipated to make a second bid in the region of £59.6m including bonuses. Sporting are said to have a good relationship with Arsenal, and are ready for a new round of negotiations.

Kieran Tierney has sent an emotional message to the Arsenal fans after he confirmed he will leave the club at the end of his contract this month. The Scotland international is poised to return to Celtic, six years since he departed his boyhood club to sign for the Gunners.

According to TBR Football, Arsenal have been left ‘shocked’ after Manchester City swooped in and reached an agreement to sign Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg.

It was reported on Thursday that City are closing in on a deal for the 18-year-old, despite Arsenal having confidence that they were at the front of the queue for his signature.

Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres has issued an update on his future, less than 48 hours after claims emerged that he was left ‘disrespected’ by Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas.

Varandas revealed in a press conference on Wednesday that there is no agreement for Gyokeres to leave for £59million in the summer transfer window.

“I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros because I never promised that,” Varandas said. “To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres – neither today nor last season.”

Reports in Portugal then claimed that Gyokeres was left ‘disrespected’ about the situation and won’t return to Sporting for pre-season. It’s added that the ex-Coventry City man would ‘rather go on strike’ and is willing to ‘interrupt his vacation’ to speak out about his situation and Sporting’s agreement that was in place.

Now, Gyokeres has taken to social media to issue a response, as speculation continues to rise on his future. In an Instagram story, Gyokeres said: “There’s a lot of talk at the moment, most of it is false.

“I will speak when the time is right.”

Thomas Partey has hinted that he could leave Arsenal this summer, after it was reported that talks over a new contract has stalled. The 31-year-old’s deal is set to expire at the end of June and he has since been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Speaking to Ghana’s TV3 while on international duty, Partey said his next move would depend on where he feels most settled, highlighting personal happiness and family as key factors when making his decision.

“The first thing is where you are happy and where you feel at home,” Partey said. “Then it’s about your next objective, what you want to achieve next. We all have a family that needs money, that’s always in our mind.”

Arsenal are interested in signing Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, it has been reported.

The Gunners want to add a winger to their squad and Elanga has been added to their summer shopping list after scoring six goals and providing 11 assists for Forest last season.

However, Forest are demanding £60m for Elanga which could prove to be a sticking point in a potential deal. At this stage, it remains to be seen if the Gunners make an official offer.

Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Athletic Club de Bilbao winger Nico Williams. The Gunners want to strengthen out wide and Williams is among those high up on their transfer list.

Williams has a £49.4million release clause in his Athletic Club contract but that must be paid in one whole sum, something that could prove to be problematic to potential suitors.

He also has high wage demands and there is an expectation that he is going to receive an even higher salary if he moves. Plus, Arsenal’s wage structure might not be able to accomadate those demands.

Arsenal have made a formal offer to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, according to Maisfutebol. The Gunners’ bid is thought to be £51million with bonuses taking it higher.

While Arsenal have lodged a proposal for Gyokeres, it’s reported that the amount is below what Sporting see as the ideal number and the Portuguese side are waiting a fee in the region of £68m.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are prepared to make an offer of £51m plus £8.5m in add-ons and compete alongside Arsenal for Gyokeres. However, that is also not expected to be enough.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are eager to sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax this summer. Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta is aiming to secure Hato’s signature during the transfer window.

It’s added that Arsenal are prepared to make a ‘decisive move’ after expressing their interest in January. Although Ajax set a high price at the time, Arsenal’s interest has been rekindled.

The fee is understood to be in the region of £42million and the Gunners want to beat competitors, such as Chelsea and Liverpool, to finalise a deal for the talented 19-year-old defender.

The future of Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo could become a lot clearer with Xabi Alonso’s side set to announce the arrival of River Plate starlet Franco Mastantuono. The La Liga giants look likely to win the race to sign the 17-year-old following speculation over his future.

In recent months, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Madrid have been reported as possible destinations for the wonderkid. However, reports now suggest that the Spanish capital looks the most likely destination.

It comes during an uncertain period for Rodrygo, who was a regular for Carlo Ancelotti’s side last year but failed to cement a starting berth.

The 24-year-old continues to be heavily linked with a move to Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to add reinforcements to his attacking department.

Milan reportedly met with Arsenal on Tuesday to discuss Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the latter could be available for less than £13million as the final 12 months of his contract approach. He is said to earn around £80k-a-week net, which Milan would reputedly want to spread over several seasons to lower a total figure of over £4million.

Manchester United reportedly also met the agent of Viktor Gyokeres yesterday.

Record claims they and Arsenal are preparing to present official proposals to Sporting CP today. It is also said that the player and his agents insist that the club’s former sporting director, Hugo Viana, now of Manchester City, told them the striker could go for circa £60million.

Milan have reportedly made fresh contact with Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the player’s high wages are “the sticking point” and the Italian club will have to find an agreement with the Ukraine international.

The Mirror previously acknowledged in mid-February as part of their reporting about Zinchenko losing a legal dispute with HMRC over thousands of pounds in unpaid tax, that he earns around £150,000 per week.

Galatasaray announced last night that negotiations had begun with Sane regarding a transfer.

Real Madrid reputedly plan to put Franco Mastantuono straight into their starting XI next season ahead of Rodrygo.

AS has reported claims made on the Cadena SER sports program, El Larguero. Mastantuono is said to have already signed a contract and will leave River Plate after turning 18 in mid-August.

The club and player reputedly wanted to stay in Argentina until next year and move during the winter transfer window. However, Xabi Alonso purportedly intends to work with the winger, who has the task of making a role on the right his own and surpassing Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid star Rodrygo remains a target with Mikel Arteta’s desire to sign him becoming clear. Benjamin Sesko meanwhile, has turned down the chance to join a Saudi Pro League club which will surely increase Arsenal’s chances of signing him.

Galatasaray are reportedly trying to sign both Leroy Sane and Victor Osimhen this summer transfer window.

Osimhen had seemed set to join Al-Hilal, who reportedly agreed a £64million deal with Napoli for the striker, before the 10 June deadline. However, he ultimately turned down a prospective move to the Saudi Pro League club.

Now, the Turkish team, where he spent last season on loan and for whom he scored 37 goals, are reputedly keen on signing Osimhen permanently. Arsenal are often tentatively credited with an interest in the Nigeria international, much like fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United.

Sane is now another player Galatasaray are purportedly pursuing. Sky Germany claims a transfer for the former Manchester City winger is in its final stage and on the verge of happening.

Arsenal are yet to make their move in the summer transfer window. Although it should be said the window is closed for now.

A number of Premier League clubs have already bolstered their ranks, with Chelsea signing Liam Delap and Mamadou Sarr, while Manchester City have brought in Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki.

Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has denied that Viktor Gyokeres will leave for €60million this summer.

“I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for 60+10 because I never promised him that. [Are there offers for 60 million?] To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyökeres, neither today nor last season.”

“He is a fantastic professional, to this day he has had zero offers. He has a three-year contract with Sporting.”

Manchester City are splashing the cash. Liverpool are not too far behind them. Chelsea are trying to but have tied themselves in knots. That is the state of the early summer transfer window.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are biding their time. Despite this being a pivotal few months for Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta, it has been a low-key start. Arsenal are in need of a mini rebuild across the squad with fringe players set to depart and key positions ready to be upgraded. Arsenal could inadvertently profit from Brighton & Hove Albion’s pursuit of Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas.

Reports on Tuesday claimed the Seagulls had agreed a £34m fee with the Greek Super League champions for the 18-year-old. However, it is Fabian Hurzeler’s side who appear to have won the race for Charalampos, with the forward reportedly set to undergo a medical on the South Coast on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sussex World claim that a move for the Greek should pave the way for Joao Pedro to leave the Amex. Reports earlier this month claimed that Pedro was keen on a move to St James’ Park, though Brighton had informed the 2025 Carabao Cup winners that it would take a fee in excess of £60m to allow the Brazilian to leave the club.

Indeed, should Newcastle cough up a deal for Pedro, it begs the question as to whether Arsenal would be offered the chance to sign Alexander Isak. After three second-place finishes in the Premier League, it is a common school of thought that an out-and-out No.9 would go some way to strengthening the Gunners’ title credentials.

Now, if Newcastle are preparing for life without Isak with a pursuit of Pedro, then the Gunners must be in a position to strike a deal for the Swede.

Partey is yet to sign a new contract with Arsenal, with his current deal expiring at the end of this month.

However, Arsenal are looking to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, casting doubt over Partey’s future.

Asked whether Arsenal’s interest in Zubimendi was influencing his decision, he told “I think the first thing is where are you happy and where do you feel at home. At the end of the day you’ve been in football, you’ve been in different teams. Then it’s about what is your next objective what do you want to achieve next.

“I’m an Arsenal fan, I can’t decide anything and just have to leave it to my agent and the club. Me, I just want to enjoy football.”

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal only have one more week to wait until they discover their opponents on the opening day of the 2025/26 season.

It may only be just over a fortnight ago that the 2024/25 Premier League campaign drew to a close but next season’s fixtures will be released very soon indeed. Wednesday, June 18 is the big day all supporters across the country are waiting for, with fixtures for all 20 clubs released at 9am sharp.

Arsenal will complete the transfer of Martin Zubiemendi next month, it has been claimed in Spain.

football.london reported on Tuesday that the club were not expected to complete the signing of Zubimendi before the 7pm deadline. According to Spanish newspaper AS, the delay is due to Financial Fair Play rules and the need to register the signing for the next year, starting July 1, rather than the current year.

The report also notes that the agreed price exceeded Zubimendi’s €60million (£50.8m) release clause. The agreed fee is believed to be around €70m (£59m), which has been described as a ‘gesture of goodwill’ towards the selling club.

However, that sum is reportedly expected to be paid in three instalments.

Fabrizio Romano says Galatasaray are optimistic of signing Sane.

Taking to X to provide an update, he wrote: “Galatasaray board and president now confident to get green light from Sane and bring him to the club. Negotiations well underway.”

Meanwhile, German outlet Bild states Sane has yet to make a final decision on his future, despite being set to become a free agent on July 1.

However, a move to London is said to be ‘appealing’ to both Sane and his wife, Candice, potentially putting Arsenal in pole position to sign him.

While he also has options in Saudi Arabia and with Serie A champions Napoli, those opportunities are understood to be less enticing for the player. Bayern are eager to keep Sane and have offered him a new three-year contract, albeit on reduced terms.

However, he rejected the proposal, unwilling to accept a pay cut – a stance that has attracted interest from rival clubs.

Slovenia coach Matjaz Kek advised Sesko against moving to Saudi Arabia amid reports that the RB Leipzig forward has turned down a move to Al Hilal.
