Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation, confirming that the Gunners are hoping to tie him down to a new deal.

Lewis-Skelly has emerged as a key player for Arsenal after bursting onto the scene during the 2024/2025 campaign. The England international has made the left-back position his own, and despite being just 18 years old, he’s now a regular for both club and country.

Understandably, Arsenal will be desperate to keep hold of all of their key players heading into the transfer window, especially a star like Lewis-Skelly who has come through the academy. Consiering his importance to the team and his sky-high potential, it certainly won’t be a cheap deal for any interested party.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has provided an update on Lewis-Skelly’s situation after reports of Real Madrid’s interest. The respected reporter confirms that Real Madrid are always informed on young talents, but Arsenal are confident of agreeing a new deal for the academy graduate, with talks ongoing…

“Behind the scenes, it’s important to mention one thing. First point, Real Madrid are always attentive to opportunities. This is Real Madrid’s style. It’s normal to be informed, but my information is that Arsenal are very calm, very relaxed, very confident and optimistic to get a new deal done for Lewis-Skelly. There is a conversation ongoing. The conversation involves people close to the player, the family of the player. Arsenal have a new director now, Andrea Berta, who arrived a few months ago. So a conversation that started before the January transfer window and then restarted with Andrea Berta as director, but going very well. So the talks are underway. Arsenal are very calm and relaxed.”

Reports emerged back in May that Lewis-Skelly was a target for Real Madrid, but it appears that Arsenal, understandably, have no intention of allowing him to depart. Real Madrid will always be keeping an eye on the best talents from around the world, and there’s no doubt Lewis-Skelly would be a player that is admired by one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
