Transfer Interest*: Al-Hilal has contacted Liverpool regarding a potential move for Núñez, with the Saudi Pro League club willing to meet Liverpool’s asking price of around £70-£85 million.

– *Player’s Preference*: Núñez prefers to stay in Europe, but Al-Hilal’s lucrative offer could change his mind. They’re reportedly offering him a weekly salary of £400,000, more than double his current earnings.

– *Contract Details*: Núñez’s current contract with Liverpool runs until June 2028, and Al-Hilal is prepared to offer him a substantial salary of €20-€25 million annually.

Current Status*: Liverpool has rejected Al-Hilal’s initial offer, but the Saudi club is expected to come back with a stronger bid. Talks are ongoing, and a decision on Núñez’s future is expected soon.

It’s worth noting that Núñez has struggled to find consistency at Liverpool, scoring just 7 times in 47 appearances under Arne Slot last season. A move to Al-Hilal could provide him with regular playing time and a fresh start.⁴

Darwin Nunez still in talks with Al-Hilal as Liverpool look to sell Uruguayan striker following failed bid for Alexander Isak

Darwin Nunez could still be on the way out of Liverpool this summer as reports state talks are continuing with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Liverpool open to permanent sale

Reds have had Isak bid rejected

Reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, Al-Hilal remain in talks with Nunez’s representatives and the Uruguayan is high on their list of transfer targets for this summer. The transfer guru states Liverpool are open to a permanent sale and talks over a move for the 26-year-old will continue in the coming

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nunez has been heavily linked with an Anfield departure after largely failing to live up to his £85 million ($112m) price tag following his transfer in 2022. The former Benfica striker saw his struggles increase in 2024-25 as he fell out of favour under Arne Slot. With a massive deal for Alexander Isak still potentially in the works, the sale of Nunez could raise useful funds.

DID YOU KNOW?

Nunez arrived for pre-season last month rocking a new buzzcut hairstyle and it has so far paid off, with the Uruguayan striker scoring four times in pre-season including a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors encounter with Stoke City. This could suggest an upturn in goalscoring fortunes after he managed just seven in all competitions last term.
