Arsenal are pushing to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze this summer window
Hello, and welcome to the live Arsenal transfer blog for Friday, 1 August, 2025.
The start of a new month means that we are now into the final part of the summer transfer window. Clubs have just a month left to complete deals with the window closing on September 1 (7pm).
Arsenal have been one of the busier teams so far in the off-season. They have completed moves for Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
But the Gunners aren’t done there. They are now on the search for a left winger with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze emerging as a key target.
Arsenal also been linked with an interest in Real Madrid’s Rodrygo throughout the summer.
There are also expected to be some outgoings before the end of the month. Fulham could offer the Gunners a big helping hand with deals for Reiss Nelson and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Stay here for all of the latest in live updates throughout the day…

Former Arsenal could make Premier League move
Former Arsenal winger Willian is on the search for a new club after leaving Fulham at the end of the season.
The Daily Mail’s Tom Collomosse reports that he has interest from at least two unnamed Premier League clubs as well as interest from Brazil.
The 36-year-old spent one season at Arsenal after joining from Chelsea in 2020. He scored once and provided seven assists in 37 appearances for the club.

The Arsenal decision that changed summer window
Arsenal have committed to paying over £65million for Viktor Gyokeres as their statement signing of the summer. That could end up being less than half of what Alexander Isak moves for.
These finances are just part of the reason that Andrea Berta pivoted away from the Newcastle United forward. Instead, he chose the lesser expensive No.9 on the market.
Benjamin Sesko was the other real contender as Arsenal switched from Isak in the belief that he was simply not going to be available for a justifiable (or affordable) fee. Ollie Watkins, who has been looked at over an extended period, was deemed as being too much as he approaches his 30s. The Aston Villa man was in the frame more during January and Jason Ayto’s interim sporting directorship.

Arsenal given transfer chance
One winger who has been mentioned alongside Arsenal over the summer is Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
Inter are pushing hard to sign the former Fulham man this summer, but Fabrizio Romano reports that they have seen their bid of €42 million (£36.6m) plus €3 million (£2.6m) in add-ons, rejected by their rivals.
Could it open the door for Arsenal to make a move?

Eberechi Eze swap deal?
Crystal Palcce are reportedly weighing up possible replacements for Arsenal linked Eberechi Eze, with Leandro Trossard named as one of the potential targets by Football Transfers.
Any interest could bring up the possibility of a swap deal involving the two players, which Arsenal could use to get a reduction on the cost of Eze.
Trossard has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this seaosn, with Borussia Dortmund credited with an interest.

Eberechi Eze message
It seems that Eberechi Eze is not letting the speculation over his future impact his performances so far this pre-season.
Despite Arsenal’s interest, he was named in the starting XI for Crystal Palace’s pre-season friendly against Augsburg earlier today.
The England man provided an assist for Jean-Philippe Mateta before getting on the scoresheet himself in a 3-1 win
Eze played the full 90 minutes of the match as he builds up his fitness during pre-season.

Arsenal approach Eze deadline
And so the final round begins. The bell has sounded. There is one month left to go of the summer transfer window. Work is still to be done.
For Arsenal, a large portion of their business is complete. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke all joined before pre-season began. Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres were not too far behind them, making their debuts on Thursday against Tottenham.
Delays to finishing things off with Sporting CP, and a protracted process to get to the stage of landing on Gyokeres over Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko in the first place, meant that Mikel Arteta did not have a new striker in for the return to training as was initially hoped. Ultimately, Arsenal have addressed key areas ahead of the Premier League.

Viktor Gyokeres backed to be top scorer
New Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres is joint third favourite to be the top goalscorer in the Premier League in the new season, according to Bet365.
The Sweden international is placed at odds of 6/1, the same as current Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
The only two players with shorter odds are Liverpool’s Mo Salah (9/2) and Man City’s Erling Haaland (6/5).

Eberechi Eze latest
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has given the latest on a move for Eberechi Eze on his YouTube channel.
He has given somewhat of a timeline for the move. He said:
“In the next 24 hours the disclose of Eberechi Eze will expire. So basically Arsenal from today on can’t can’t go pay the clause and get the player. It will take a negotiation with Crystal Palace.
According to my sources, this negotiation club to club has not started yet. In the last two days, someone said the negotiation started. I’m told that the negotiation club to club has not started yet. But sources at Crystal Palace expect Arsenal to arrive for Eze.
“Why? Because Arsenal have been in contact for months now with the agents of Eze, because Eze is very appreciated by Arsenal, because Arsenal still want to add the player if they will have the opportunity to.
“They spoke to the player several times and the player is also very keen on a move. So Palace expect Arsenal to arrive.
“Let’s see when let’s see how this conversation will go. Let’s so let’s see financially what they can do. But now the clause has 24 hours. Then the story is going to be over in the next hours basically for in terms of the release clause. It’s going to be over for the clause not for Arsenal, because Arsenal remain absolutely interested in the player.”

Liverpool Alexander Isak stance
Liverpool are not planning on sending a second bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, after seeing their first rejected by Newcastle, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Isak was one of the players of interest to Arsenal earlier in the window, before the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, but there has been a lot of noise around Liverpool in recent weeks and days.
The Reds’ rejected offer is said to have been £110 million.

Brahim Diaz interest
Arsenal are one of the clubs showing keeping a close eye on the situation of Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, according to Football Espana.
The report says that manager Xabi Alonso has informed the player that he will play a ‘secondary role’ in the new season. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are said to be willing to pay up to €40 million (£35.9m) to complete the transfer.
Arsenal are named alongside AC Milan as keeping a close eye on the matter in the instance that he is available for transfer.
He has however reportedly agreed a new contract with Real Madrid, although that is yet to be signed.
