Transfer news LIVE: Eze chooses Arsenal; Man Utd in Baleba push; Isak to Liverpool; Donnarumma latest

Plenty of movement in the transfer window with just a day until the Premier League relaunches
Targets: Ebere Eze, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marc Guehi, and Alexander Isak
Transfer news LIVE
With the new Premier League season now just a day away, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all working hard on deals before the big kick-off. Manchester City, though, could be the next club making a splash in the window as they look to shuffle their goalkeeper union, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma newly on the market. He could be available for a bargain fee of just £26m, though his six-figure wages may prove a stumbling block.
The Gunners remain interested in Eberechi Eze all summer, but Tottenham have swooped in to begin talks with Crystal Palace over a deal which could cost £68million, though Standard Sport understands his release clause expires tomorrow. Savinho is also wanted by Spurs at a similar price point.
After tying up a deal for young Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni, Liverpool are still chasing Alexander Isak, who is trying to force a move. The striker has vowed never to play for Newcastle again and gone so far as to move out of his Tyneside home. The Reds are also in talks with Palace, with Marc Guehi their top target to strengthen at centre-back as a separate deal nears for young Italian defender Giovanni Leoni.
Manchester United have spent heavily on their forward line and are now concentrating on midfield as they weigh up a second bid for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, who has given a green light to make the move to Old Trafford. Chelsea’s pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho could boost United’s coffers, while the Blues remain interested in Xavi Simons. Follow the latest transfer news, gossip and rumours live below!

Tottenham: Solomon hopes of dream Leeds return dealt blow
Manor Solomon’s hopes of returning to Leeds United face a new obstacle as Leeds believe they have an opportunity to sign the AC Milan forward Noah Okafor.
Standard Sport understands that Solomon wishes to return to Leeds this summer.
Tottenham would be willing to sell Solomon this summer if a suitable offer arrives. The Israel international is not part of new manager Thomas Frank’s plans, and his sale could help fund the club’s pursuit of top targets Eberechi Eze and Savinho.

‘Are you serious?!’ – Slot reveals how Wirtz has wowed Liverpool squad
Arne Slot says Florian Wirtz has exceeded Liverpool’s high expectations so far, but says his “biggest strength” outweighs his ability on the ball.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder signed from Bayer Leverkusen this summer in a deal which could reach a British transfer record £116million.
Wirtz has already scored his first goal for Liverpool during pre-season, and showed early signs of a threatening partnership with fellow newcomer Hugo Ekitike when setting up his early goal in the Community Shield last weekend.
But it is what is going on between his ears that makes his new manager most confident of Wirtz making an instant impact as he prepares to make his Premier League debut on Friday.

Dortmund and Leverkusen keen on Brighton’s Buonanotte
Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are competing for the attention of Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte.
Leverkusen have joined Dortmund – who have been discussing a loan with an option to buy with the Seagulls, per Sky Germany – in the race for the 20-year-old Argentine, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City.
The Bundesliga clubs are said to believe Brighton would rather loan Buonanotte to another club in the Premier League, but both teams are still reportedly pursuing a deal.
Roma want Sancho and Bailey
In other news from Old Trafford, Jadon Sancho is the subject of a rumoured season-long loan bid from AS Roma.
So says The Times, with the Serie A side also in talks to bring in Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey on another loan move, as reported earlier t
West Brom to sign Man Utd midfielder Collyer on loan
West Bromwich Albion are set to sign Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer on a season-long loan, per The Athletic.
Collyer is still viewed as a part of United’s future plans, with Sky Sports reporting there is no buy option attached to the deal.
The 21-year-old – who was involved in pre-season with the Red Devils’ first team – has attracted interest from several other Championship sides this summer but was reportedly convinced by the Baggies’ project and new boss Ryan Mason.

Man City want £67m from Spurs for Savinho
Manchester City are reportedly holding out for a fee of about £67million from Tottenham for Savinho.
That comes from Times Sport, after previous reporting revealed City valued the Brazilian winger in excess of £50m amid interest from Spurs.
Thomas Frank is keen to bolster his squad in north London, with deals for Savinho and Eze both being strongly considered on the eve of the new Premier League season
Palace could swap Elliott for Guehi amid Eze exit rumours
As for Palace, what has been a relatively quiet summer so far in terms of incomings could be on the verge of livening up.
The Sun reports that the Eagles are keen to sign Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott before the end of the transfer window.
Liverpool are expected to demand £40million for the Englishman, with a swap deal for Palace centre-back Marc Guehi reportedly “on the cards”.
As we brought to you earlier this morning, Palace are also braced for Tottenham – and possibly their fierce rivals Arsenal – to step up their pursuit of Eberechi Eze in the coming days.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Eze would be keen on a move to Spurs if the Lilywhites can agree a fee with Palace.
A first official bid for the English playmaker is currently being prepared by Spurs, says insider Paul O’Keefe.
Crystal Palace forward joins Newcastle wishlist
Should their approach for Wissa fall through, though, Newcastle may have another route to replacing Isak if the Swedish star gets his move to Anfield.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has been identified by the Magpies as a “top target” if Isak departs.
The Eagles would reportedly demand around £40million to let the Frenchman leave Selhurst Park this summer.
Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is another name in the rumour mill surrounding St James’ Park, after Newcastle struck out on several targets this summer including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko
How Forest nabbing Brentford target Kalimuendo could stop Isak to Liverpool
Nottingham Forest may be about to steal Brentford target Arnaud Kalimuendo from under the Bees’ noses.
Brentford are understood to be keen on Rennes forward Kalimuendo, who registered 17 goals and three assists in Ligue 1 last season.
Indeed, the Bees securing a deal for the 23-year-old French forward – as well as Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara – may be the catalyst that allows Yoane Wissa to leave west London amid interest from Newcastle, which in turn could unlock Alexander Isak’s desired move to Liverpool.
However, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, that entire plan may be about to unravel.
That’s because Forest appear “set to sign” Kalimuendo for a reported €30million (£25.8m).
French newspaper L’Equipe, meanwhile, say Rennes have accepted a €30m offer from a Premier League club for the player without revealing which side Kalimuendo has – reportedly – already agreed a contract with.
Standard Sport is looking to verify these reports, and we’ll bring you the latest once we have it.
City agree big salary for Donnarumma
Manchester City have reportedly agreed a salary with Gianluigi Donnarumma worth over €12million (£10.3m) per year.
That comes from Italian media outlet La Stampa, amid reports that City are the frontrunners in the race for the in-demand goalkeeper who has recently been deemed surplus to requirements at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Etihad club have already signed James Trafford from Burnley this summer, though, and may need to offload previous back-up Stefan Ortega as well as current No1 Ederson – who some sources report they are keen to keep, despite his contract expiring next summer amid interest from the likes of Galatasaray – before making an official play for Donnarumma.
