Exclusive: Euro Giants Contact Arsenal to Sign £200,000-a-Week Star

Porto have shown an interest in Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, sources have told GIVEMESPORT.

The Portuguese club are understood to have made contact with Arsenal, though conversations are still at an early stage. Both clubs enjoy a good relationship, which could help if discussions progress further in the coming days.

Arsenal are thought to be open to allowing the 28-year-old to leave this summer, while Zinchenko is believed to be open to a potential move.

The Ukraine international joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022 and has been part of Mikel Arteta’s squad for the past two seasons, playing a key role in their push for the Premier League title.

Zinchenko, who currently earns around £200,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium, is now into the final year of his Arsenal contract, which expires at the end of the 2025/26 season.

That situation could make a transfer more likely, with Arsenal potentially preferring to sell now rather than risk losing him for free next summer.

Last season, his minutes were reduced due to injury and rotation, with Arteta often using other options at left-back. Myles Lewis-Skelly was often the first-choice option, while Riccardo Calafiori, Kieran Tierney and Jurrien Timber also started ahead of Zinchenko on occasion.

GIVEMESPORT key statistic: Oleksanr Zinchenko won four Premier League titles during his time at Manchester City (2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022).

Porto are looking to strengthen ahead of the new campaign, targeting players with experience, technical quality, and versatility.

Zinchenko, who can operate both at left-back and in midfield, fits that profile and is seen as a player who could add depth and quality.

While no formal offer has been made, Porto are understood to be keeping a close eye on the situation. Manager Arteta has also publicly stated that several players are expected to leave the Gunners before the end of the transfer window.

GIVEMESPORT sources previously reported that Fulham had made an approach about a deal for the 73-cap Ukraine international, with Arsenal valuing him at around £15m. That deal hasn’t progressed yet, and now Porto have entered the race.
