Arsenal have reportedly rejected a sensational swap deal which involves Rodrygo and William Saliba

Elsewhere, Eberechi Eze is a target for the Gunners, but they are not willing to pay the figure that Crystal Palace are after this summer – and have now missed the deadline for his release clause.

North London rivals Tottenham are said to be ready to step up their attempts to land the England international.

In other news, a number of Italian clubs are reportedly eyeing up Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Arsenal reject Rodrygo swap

Arsenal have rejected a swap deal offer from Real Madrid involving William Saliba and Rodrygo.

The Gunners are looking for a new winger and Real have found a way to help them get their man.

According to Marca, Los Blancos have offered Rodrygo in exchange for Saliba as they also need a new centre-back.

However, the North Londoners immediately turned the offer down with the France international happy at the Emirates.

Palace eye another Eze replacement – EXCLUSIVE

Crystal Palace have already identified a potential replacement for Eberechi Eze amid Tottenham’s intense interest, reports SunSports Kostas Lianos.

Arsenal kept tabs on Eze but are unlikely to swoop after Ethan Nwaneri signed a new contract until 2030.

SunSport understand Palace are keeping tabs on Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan.

The Eagles are considering a season-long loan deal for Hwang ahead of transfer deadline day.

Oliver Glasner’s side are also chasing Leicester star Bilal El Khannouss after his team’s relegation to the Championship.

While Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis is a target following an impressive season in Belgium.

Reports suggest Palace offered £26million for Tzolis but Brugge turned them down.

Palace identify Eze replacement

Crystal Palace are exploring a move for Leicester midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.

He is viewed as a replacement for Arsenal target Eberechi Eze as he nears a move to their North London rivals Spurs in a deal worth in the region of £55million.

Reports from talkSPORT claim the Moroccan international has told the Foxes that he would like to make the move to South London.

Leicester value the 21-year-old at around £30million, marking a hefty reinvestment of any potential funds gathered by Eze’s sale.

North London rival secure captain’s extension

Cristian Romero has signed a contract extension with Tottenham Hotspur.

Romero arrived at the club from Italian outfit Atalanta in 2021 and has been a mainstay in the starting line-up ever since.

The Argentinian international was named club captain ahead of the season’s start, and has now put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.

His captaincy with the club got off to a rough start when Spurs blew a two-goal lead to lose the Super Cup to PSG on penalties last week.

But their Premier League campaign got off to a better start, thumping newly-promoted Burnley 3-0 on opening weekend

Five Arsenal players remain in the shop window

Arsenal are open to offers for five players, according to reports from Sky Sports.

Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Viera, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all available for offers.

The group were all left out of Arsenal’s squad for their season opener at Old Trafford yesterday.

Arsenal off to a winning start

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will be happy to take all three points from their season opener at Old Trafford.

However, the 1-0 margin, and the fortunate nature of the goal, were markers that this side still has some teething problems to sort out if they want to challenge at the top of the table.

Next up they host newly promoted Leeds in what is a great opportunity to stamp their dominance on the league with a statement victory.

The Yorkshire side are set to open their season tonight against Everton, and could debut signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin against his former club.

Arsenal use sneaky trick to manipulate new rule

Arsenal were spotted using a crafty technique to take advantage of the new time limit on keepers holding the ball.

Goalkeepers in the Premier League this season are only permitted to hold onto the ball for a maximum of eight seconds, or else a corner will be awarded to the other team.

Arteta parked a player in front of Man Utd’s Altay Bayindir as the keeper was looking to play out quickly from the back.

Not only does the placement help stop counter attacks emerging from quick keeper distribution, but it also forces them into slowing down, and potentially fall foul of the new rule.

Birmingham interested in former Arsenal star

Birmingham City are interested in the signature of Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The 32-year-old plays his football for Turkish giants Besiktas, who are reportedly willing to allow the former England international to move on a free transfer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made almost 200 appearances for the Gunners in his six-year spell with the club.

He came through the Southampton academy and also played for Liverpool before moving abroad.

Arsenal’s unlikely star

Arsenal cruised to a 1-0 victory over Man Utd in their opening game of the4 season, but the difference maker proved to be a surprising name.

All eyes were on new forward signing Viktor Gyokeres to open his competitive tally with the club

But it was defender Riccardo Calafiori who would nod in at the back post after Utd keeper Altay Bayindir fluffed his lines attempting to punch a corner away.

Mikel Arteta is determined to deploy Calafiori higher up the pitch than his size and position might usually dictate, and he could be one to watch this season for his attacking contirbutions.

Broadcast change causes Arsenal controversy

Arsenal found themselves at the mercy of a new broadcast rule introduced for the upcoming Premier League season during their season opener against Man Utd.

Captain Martin Odegaard was caught in the Old Trafford tunnel at half-time and interviewed on camera regarding the game’s events so far.

The out of breath Norwegian said: “It has been a bit too hectic at times.

“So much space is too open, we need to control it a bit better.

“When we get the ball, pick the right moments and be a bit more accurate when we counter.”

The Gunners went on to win the game 1-0 and get their title challenge off to a flyer.

The new interview type was introduced for the upcoming campaign to mixed reception from fans and former pros.

But not everyone enjoys the new insight, with fans questioning the quality of interview that broadcasters will get out of players in such high pressure situations.
