GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Leeds (Saka, 45+1)
A HUGE GOAL FOR ARSENAL ON THE STROKE OF HALF-TIME!

Arsenal were so patient in possession and worked their way up the pitch. Gruev got it back for Leeds but lost it again and that allowed Arsenal to play the decisive pass.

Timber, adding to his goal, with the pass into the right channel of the box for Saka to slam his finish in from a tight angle!

16: ERROR… AND A GYOKERES MISS!

Leeds try to play out from Perri but Struijk’s pass to Stach is high-risk and, under pressure from Zubimendi, he sends the ball towards Gyokeres on the edge of the six-yard box.

The Arsenal striker doesn’t realise he has so much time, spins and sticks a leg out but diverts the ball wide!

Odegaard: Winning captaincy vote meant a lot to me

Martin Odegaard has expressed his pride at winning a vote to retain Arsenal’s captaincy athis season.

Odegaard’s captaincy was called into question by former skipper Tony Adams, who said it should go to Declan Rice.

But Mikel Arteta revealed the Norway international was emphatically backed by his team-mates ahead of the new campaign, much to Odegaard’s delight.

“It was nice to be voted by the group as captain again this season,” he said in his programme notes for Saturday’s game against Leeds.

“It’s a good feeling because that’s what matters to me – what the manager, coaches and team-mates think.

“It’s a nice feeling to know that they appreciate me. It’s good to hear and it means a lot to me.”
