Virgil van Dijk has claimed that referee Tony Harrington seemed “nervous” during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Fulham at Anfield on Saturday. The league leaders had left-back Andy Robertson dismissed for denying Harry Wilson a clear goal-scoring opportunity early in the first half, but Dutch defender Van Dijk felt that Harrington “couldn’t properly communicate” with Robertson or the other players.

The game was marred with controversy as Andy Robertson was sent off for denying Harry Wilson a clean run through on goal, which could have resulted in The Cottagers doubling their lead after Andreas Pereira had stormed in at the far post to convert Antonee Robinson’s cross on 11 minutes.
