Arne Slot issues Mo Salah demand and slams Liverpool ‘mistakes’ in Newcastle draw

Arne Slot saw Liverpool held to a point by Newcastle in one of the games of the Premier League season, with the Reds boss left frustrated that his side threw away a win

Arne Slot called for Mo Salah continue his brilliant form “for a long time” after the Egyptian starred in Liverpool’s thrilling draw at Newcastle.

Salah notched an assist and scored twice as the Reds could only take a point from St James’ Park, where a late error from Caoimhin Kelleher cost the visitors victory and ensured their lead at the top of the Premier League was cut from nine to seven points.

Slot was left furious with the number of errors his side made in Wednesday’s draw, as they twice had to fight back from a goal behind. Alexander Isak’s wondergoal opened the scoring, before Anthony Gordon put them back in front after Curtis Jones’ equaliser.

Liverpool were once again left indebted to Salah, whose contract will expire at the end of the season. But Slot believes there is still plenty more to come from the attacker in a Liverpool shirt.

Roy Keane points finger at Liverpool star as he fumes over Newcastle incident

“I have mixed feelings, we were outstanding in the second half but we were not good enough in the first half. Maybe 3-3 is what the game deserved,” the Liverpool boss told Amazon Prime.

“They were really aggressive and forced us into mistakes but we were so much better in the second half. I knew the game could be changed around, we were much better with the ball.

“After the week we had we could change the game which is a very positive thing to take. Every time we need Mo Salah he scores a goal. We are hoping and expecting he can continue this for a long time. He was outstanding in the second half, he did many special things for us.”
