Live and extensive coverage from the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal welcome Fulham to north London in an exciting Premier League match between two city rivals

Arsenal take on Fulham with Emile Smith Rowe returning to the Emirates and Mikel Arteta hoping to play Bukayo Saka

Hello and welcome to onthegoal.com.ng  for live coverage of Arsenal’s Premier League match with Chelsea this afternoon.

There is a real anticipation about this evening’s match after Mikel Arteta confirmed that Bukayo Saka had returned from injury and is “ready to go!” This will be music to the ears of Arsenal supporters who have been waiting patiently for his return.

He was not a part of the youth side from Monday night and there are hopes he could even be ready to start or at the very least come off the bench. Riccardo Calafiori is expected to miss the match after suffering a knee injury on international duty.

However, Jurrien Timber has shaken off an illness to be a part of the squad. Marco Silva did scrutinise former Gunner now-Fulham midfielder Emile Smith Rowe for lacking consistency as he could play in his old side’s ground as an opponent for the first time.

Arsenal transfer state of play

Arsenal are expected to announce the appointment of Andrea Berta very soon and the Italian will take on the responsibilities left by his predecessor Edu Gaspar. Formerly of Atletico Madrid, Berta will arrive with a wealth of experience at the top level of the sport in the field of recruitment and sales, and his arrival is seen as a big coup by the club.

His work in the summer will include the completion of major deals for players in multiple areas. football.london understands that work has gone on behind the scenes ahead of both the summer and even before Berta was looking likely to be implemented into his role.

He, therefore, will be focusing more on the completion of the club’s established strategy for the summer, rather than finding the gems he was known for spotting while in Spain. That will come later down the line, after he is much more established in the club and has his feet firmly under the desk.
