Arsenal agree terms to sign Benjamin Sesko of Leipzig
Arsenal have reportedly agreed on personal terms with RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, as per
It has widely been documented that the Gunners are keen on bolstering the centre-forward position by signing a prolific striker to close the gap with English champions Liverpool.
Initially, they reportedly wanted to hire Alexander Isak of Newcastle United following his productive campaigns in the last two seasons. However, after the Magpies’ Champions League qualification, they have made it clear that they don’t want to part ways with him unless an exorbitant bid is placed by his potential suitors, such as the North London club.
After realising that it would be impossible to lure the Swedish international away from St James’ Park Stadium, Arsenal have pivoted to alternative options.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have prioritised purchasing Sesko and have lined up Sporting CP superstar Viktor Gyokeres as a backup option should they fail to hire the Slovenian.
The Gunners have been in talks with the German side to sign Sesko, having already agreed on personal terms with the player. Sesko is set to leave Red Bull Arena following Leipzig’s failure to qualify for European football next season.

However, Leipzig don’t want to sell him unless his £67m release clause is triggered with his existing deal set to run until 2029. However, Arsenal don’t want to spend that much and have been negotiating to drive the price down.
There is confidence among all parties that a deal can be agreed upon, so Arsenal aren’t in any panic over this deal at the moment.
Although Leipzig endured a tough season last term, Sesko showcased his goal-scoring prowess, scoring 21 goals and registering six assists in all competitions.
The 21-year-old, standing at 6ft 5in tall, has the physicality to flourish in the Premier League and has the necessary attributes to become a world-class striker in the future.
Therefore, he would be a great coup for the North London club should they eventually manage to secure his service in this transfer window.
However, players typically take time to adjust to the physicality of the Premier League when arriving from abroad, and the same may occur with Sesko.
