Arsenal News Now | Get Today’s Latest Arsenal ready to launch club-record £111m bid to land striker target Mike Arteta are looking to compound their interest in …article continues below

Arsenal are keen to intensify their pursuit of a striker target as the January transfer window is less than a month away. In their efforts for the same, Caught Offside understands that the Gunners are willing to break the bank once again to land a top target.
This time, the player on their radar is Newcastle United’s Swedish marksman Alexander Isak, whom the Magpies signed from Real Sociedad in 2022. The north Londoners were linked with the player back then as well, but were beaten to Isak’s signature by Newcastle, who had funds readily available at the time.
Now, as Mikel Arteta and his men near the halfway mark of their third-successive season trying to challenge for the Premier League title, signing a striker is of paramount importance. While stars like Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz are carrying the scoring load just fine, Arsenal seem to be missing a piece up front that will guarantee them 25 goals per season.

Arsenal made a huge statement of intent to the rest of the league when they signed Declan Rice from West Ham United in 2022 for a club-record £105m fee. Now as they look to build their squad for bigger and better things, the Gunners are ready to smash that record within two years of making it.
This time, Newcastle’s Isak is on their list, and has been for the last few seasons. The 25-year-old has a tall frame and is good aerially, but also great on the ball and has silky dribbling skills as well as a powerful shot. Bringing him to the Emirates Stadium would be a big statement by Arteta and his team that they are unwilling to budge from competing for the title.

Isak has made a total of 80 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 40 goals and also providing seven assists. This season, despite injury concerns, the Swede has bagged five goals and two assists in 13 appearances and will look to carry that form forward.
