Arsenal Offer Five-Year Contract to £190,000-a-Week Star, Talks Ongoing

Arsenal have offered a new contract to defender William Saliba, which would see him extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2030, according to Foot Mercato.
Saliba has been a key cog under Mikel Arteta since coming into the senior squad a few years ago. The French centre-back has played a crucial role, alongside Gabriel Magalhaes, creating a formidable partnership at the back for the north London club.
The Gunners have become one of the most defensively solid sides in recent years under Arteta, and losing Saliba would be considered a bit of a disaster. Although they’ve now brought in some strong cover for him at the back, we’ve seen at times that they can struggle when he’s not fit and available.
Arsenal Offer Five-Year Contract to William Saliba

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Arsenal have offered Saliba a five-year contract, with talks ongoing as they hope to reach an agreement with the French international. The Gunners are, of course, hoping for a positive response to their offer, with ‘several big guns’ monitoring Saliba ahead of a potential move, including Real Madrid.
Saliba remains focused on Arsenal as it stands, with his contract expiring in just under two years time. The defender reportedly earns £190,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium, and you imagine he’d be in line for a healthy pay rise if he is to sign on the dotted line with the Gunners.
Salibs is currently sidelined due to injury, and it will be interesting to see how Arteta’s side compete without him in the starting XI. They’ve increased their depth and competition during the summer transfer window, with both Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie arriving through the door at the Emirates Stadium.
Mosquera feels like the most natural replacement due to primarily playing on the right-hand side, while he has also had more time to settle in. The former Valencia centre-back was also introduced when Saliba came off injured against Liverpool before the international break, so it makes sense for him to come in to replace the French defender.
Extending Saliba’s contract will be an important matter for Arsenal in the coming months, especially with less focus being on transfers with the window closing earlier this month. If Saliba is keen to extend, then it should be a relatively straightforward process.
