Arsenal Player Ratings Vs Man City: One Player Gets 8/10 But Four Others Get 4

Arsenal snatched a late point against a stubborn Manchester City on Sunday evening.

The Gunners laboured in the first half, and they received a sucker punch after Erling Haaland scored on the counter-attack.

Manager Mikel Arteta threw caution to the wind after the interval, sending on almost every attacker at his disposal, before Gabriel Martinelli finally broke down the door with a delightful lob in injury time. Read below as we share our Arsenal player ratings for the 1-1 draw at the Emirates.

Midfield

CM – Mikel Merino – 4/10 – Arsenal fans expressed their frustration every time the Spaniard passed the ball back or sideways. He was hooked at halftime.

CM – Martin Zubimendi – 6/10 – the midfielder was composed in possession but he blasted a shot over the bar early in the second half.

CM – Declan Rice – 4/10 – gave the ball away several times, including once when he passed the ball out of play for a throw-in. His corners also didn’t lead to any chances of note.

Forwards

RW – Noni Madueke – 5/10 – simply no end product. He gets himself into some great positions and then executes poorly. 6 Games – 0 goals and 0 assists.

ST – Viktor Gyokeres – 4/10 – the striker really struggled to get into the game. He hasn’t demonstrated the required traits – strength and pace – to trouble the Premier League’s best defences.

LW – Leandro Trossard – 5/10 – the Belgian had a cross that flashed across goal but he didn’t really provide enough of a threat in the final third.

Substitutes

Bukayo Saka – 6/10 – the winger clearly wasn’t fit but he did his best, considering the circumstances.

Eberechi Eze – 7/10 – initially flattered to deceive after replacing Merino at half-time but he then produced a fine assist for the equaliser.

Gabriel Martinelli – 8/10 – scored the equaliser with an outstanding run and expertly executed lob.

Ethan Nwaneri – N/A – replaced Trossard but he did not have time to make an impact on the match.

Cristhian Mosquera – N/A – came on for Zubimendi to defend a setpiece in added time.
