Arsenal Ready to Sell £355,000-a-Week Duo in January After Expensive Summer

Published

Arsenal are planning to sell both Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard in the January transfer window, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Gunners could reportedly be looking to trim Mikel Arteta’s squad following their £255m summer spree, which saw forwards Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke arrive.

With promising starlet Max Dowman emerging from the academy as well, opportunities could be limited for both Trossard and Jesus to impress this season, with the Brazilian now working his way back to fitness after an ACL injury earlier this year.

While Jesus’ return is anticipated later in autumn, Trossard has featured once for Arsenal in their first three Premier League games, coming off the bench during their 5-0 win over Leeds at home.

According to O’Rourke, Jesus is expected to be behind both Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz in the pecking order when everyone is fully fit.

Havertz is also recovering from an injury setback, having undergone surgery to correct a knee issue he sustained during Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Manchester United last month.

Trossard, meanwhile, could also struggle for regular first-team minutes, as he is competing with the likes of Madueke, Eze, Dowman, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

O’Rourke claims the Belgium international will reportedly be set for a move away from the Emirates if his minutes do not increase by January, with clubs already exploring a potential deal with Arsenal.

Trossard was recently linked with a move to Besiktas, who were reportedly looking to sign the £90,000-a-week forward ahead of the Turkish transfer deadline on Friday.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have no intention of parting ways with Trossard as of now, having agreed a new deal with the Belgian in August, which increased his salary.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Trossard scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 38 Premier League appearances last term.

Jesus has not featured for Arsenal since January and saw his name left out of the Gunners’ 25-man Champions League squad last week, with Dowman making the cut.

The £265,000-a-week forward made 27 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists, with his last appearance coming in the FA Cup third-round defeat on penalties to Man United.
