Milos Kerkez drops treble Liverpool transfer hint after contract breakthrough

Liverpool transfer target Milos Kerkez has set tongues wagging after reacting to updates on the futures of Reds pair Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk

Milos Kerkez has potentially dropped a new double hint about his future as he continues to be linked with a summer move to Liverpool. The Reds are expected to sign a new left-back this summer and they are interested in the Hungarian full-back.

The 21-year-old is not the only option on Liverpool’s radar. They are keeping tabs on a number of other potential options ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer window.

But speculation linking Kerkez with a move to Merseyside is showing no signs of slowing down with AFC Bournemouth reportedly slapping a £45m asking-price on his head. Previous reports also claimed that Anfield bosses had already made initial contact with the Cherries about a possible summer transfer.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes previously signed the full-back for Bournemouth, landing the Hungary international in a £15.5m deal from AZ Alkmaar for £15.5m in the summer of 2023.

Since then, he has established himself as one of the most exciting left-backs in the Premier League. He has two goals and five assists from 31 appearances in the English top-flight so far this season as Andoni Iraola’s side remain in contention to qualify for Europe next season.

And Kerkez has now fanned the flames over a potential move to Liverpool after liking two posts on Instagram regarding the future of Mohamed Salah, after it emerged that the Egyptian is closing in on signing a new contract with the Reds.

Eagled-eyed supporters noticed that the 21-year-old had liked two posts from Fabrizio Romano on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.

The journalist uploaded a video reel confirming Mohamed Salah is set to stay at Anfield and posted a separate post reporting that both the Egyptian and Virgil van Dijk look set to remain with Liverpool, with Kerkez spotted to have liked both of them.

Kerkez had already set tongues wagging earlier in the week after liking a further post from Romano, as the journalist posted quotes from Van Dijk – given in an interview with the ECHO and other media outlets in the mixed zone following the Reds’ loss at Fulham – confirming there had been progress in contract negotiations with Liverpool.

The aforementioned post was also liked by Reds forward Federico Chiesa and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvili, who has already agreed to join Liverpool in a £29m deal this summer.

Unsurprisingly, supporters are now putting two and two together after spotting the Bournemouth man’s social media activity, believing that it suggests he will also be playing alongside both Salah and Van Dijk at Anfield next season.

Kerkez has previously spoken about reported interest from Liverpool, admitting he would be interested in playing alongside compatriot Dominik Szoboszlai at club level.

He told Nemzetisport back in February: “It wouldn’t look bad (working with Szoboszlai at Liverpool), that’s for sure.

“But it’s too early to talk about something like that. I have big goals with Bournemouth, we still have a lot of games to win, that’s the most important thing right now.”

Meanwhile, Szoboszlai also fuelled such transfer speculation himself after posting a dressing room selfie with Kerkez in the dressing room at the Vitality Stadium following the Reds’ win over the Cherries back at the start of February.
