What Berta is currently doing

Journalist Graeme Bailey, via TBR Football, has revealed what sporting director Andrea Berta is currently doing for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Andrea Berta is busy on incomings. There is no disputing that a new No.9 is where most of his time is being spent. It is seemingly looking more & more likely to be Viktor Gyökeres or Benjamin Sesko, but that still isn’t certain.

Berta is also working hard on new deals for his own players. One of their main objectives this summer, as well as Zubimendi, was getting new deals done for William Saliba, Bukayo Saka & Gabriel Magalhães — talks have taken place with all three camps.

Williams and two others on Arsenal transfer shortlist

Nico Williams remains as Arsenal’s priority left-winger acquisition in the summer transfer window, but two others are also on their list.

According to the Mail, the Athletic Club star is seen as the perfect player to compete with Gabriel Martinelli.

However, if that moves becomes impossible, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Rafael Leao of AC Milan are understood to be alternatives.

Arsenal see agreeing new contracts for Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli as a priority, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The trio all see their current deals expire over the coming years with active talks already underway for Saka and Saliba. The latter has strong transfer interest from Real Madrid.

Martinelli meanwhile, is a concrete target for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. Teams in the Middle East also want to bring in Gabriel Magalhaes.

Next four transfers after Zubimendi

Arsenal are hopeful that four other players will follow Martin Zubimendi into Emirates Stadium in this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners have reached an agreement in principle to sign the Real Sociedad midfielder with his £50.8million release clause expected to be triggered.

With that deal all but done, Andrea Berta can now focus on other deals with it clear what is next on the agenda. football.london understands that Arsenal want at least one other forward, a back-up keeper, defender and hope for a wide player

Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal looks be edging closer, if new reports are to be believed.

The Swede is one of many striker transfer targets for Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta with it looking as though he is the chosen addition.

According to the print edition of Correio da Manha, the Gunners have now submitted their first official offer for Gyokeres with an agreement over personal terms already
