Liverpool and their Premier League title push faces a stern examination this Saturday as they travel to face one of the season’s surprise packages in Bournemouth, with kick-off set for 15:00 GMT at the Vitality Stadium.
Andoni Iraola’s side has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most compelling stories this season, currently sitting seventh in the table with 40 points from 23 matches.
The Cherries are enjoying their best-ever unbeaten sequence in the top flight, having already claimed notable scalps against Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham at home this season.
Bournemouth enter this fixture in scintillating form, demonstrated by their recent 5-0 demolition of Nottingham Forest thanks to Dango Ouattara’s hat-trick.
Their attacking prowess is evident in the statistics, having created the third-most expected goals in the league this season.
Darren England will take charge of the fixture, supported by assistants Akil Howson and Steve Meredith. Steve Martin will serve as the fourth official, with John Brooks operating as VAR.
With how many senior players Arne Slot rested midweek against PSV, it should be an invigorated Liverpool eleven that takes to the pitch at the Vitality Stadium at the weekend.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the Bournemouth injury list ahead of the clash.
Bournemouth injury list ahead of Liverpool clash
Manager Andoni Iraola has already admitted that he has a ‘thin’ squad to face Liverpool, saying after their win at Nottingham Forest as quoted by the Premier League’s official website:
“We are taking the games game by game. We have Liverpool next. We are thin on numbers so we try to recover players for that game. Still there are a lot of games to play. I will not change the approach we are taking.”
Enes Ünal – out
The Turkish striker is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury. This is a long-term injury, and no specific return date has been provided.
Evanilson – out
The Brazilian forward, who was signed as Dominic Solanke’s replacement, is out with a metatarsal fracture. He is only expected to return in early April 2025. The 25-year-old’s absence is a big blow for the Cherries.
Marcos Senesi – out
The Argentine defender is suffering from a muscle injury. He is projected to return in mid-March 2025, indicating a moderate-term injury.
Julián Araujo – out
The Mexican right-back is dealing with a hamstring injury. His expected return is set for late February 2025 after going through surgery in November.
James Hill – out
The young English defender is battling a muscle injury. He is listed with a potential return in mid-February 2025, indicating a less severe issue than some of his teammates
“Yes, he’s injured. It’s a muscle injury. It’s not a big one, but three, four weeks, I suppose, he’s going to be out.”, Iraola said of the injury on January 17.
Adam Smith – doubt
The veteran full-back is recovering from a knock. He was expected to return in late January 2025, suggesting he may be close to rejoining the squad.
He could be fit to face Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium.
Alex Scott – out
The promising English midfielder is recovering from a meniscus injury. Although he was expected back in late January, Scott was not in the matchday squad for their win over Nottingham Forest.
Luis Sinisterra – doubt
The Colombian winger is out with a muscle injury. Like Adam Smith, he was projected to return in late January 2025, indicating he may be nearing full fitness but was also not in the Nottingham Forest squad.
Julio Soler – out
Their new January signing, who was linked with Liverpool, is not available as he is with the Argentina U2o squad for the U-20 South American Championships.
“It’s a shame for him and for us now that he has to leave; he’s already on his way to Argentina,” said Iraola on January 11,
“We will lose him for some weeks, but we cannot do anything
