Osimhen, Gyokeres, Isak or Sesko? Arteta and Berta disagree on Arsenal’s best centre-forward solution
Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta reportedly have differing preferences for addressing Arsenal’s centre-forward void.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres for the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, Sporting director Andrea Berta admires Gyokeres, who is a top consideration for the Gunners.

Manager Mikel Arteta is said to prefer Alexander Isak, but Newcastle United are reluctant to sell their star player, needing a substantial fee.
Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, has also been linked with a transfer to the North London giants; however, an official bid has never materialised.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is also scouted as a more affordable option, amid competition for his signature, making Gyokeres a viable candidate.
Why Arsenal may opt for Gyokeres
The 26-year-old has established himself as a prolific forward since joining Coventry City in 2023, with an impressive record of 85 goals and 26 assists in 92 appearances. He has played a key role in Sporting’s Primeira Liga victory and has already scored 30 goals in 26 league matches this season.
Arsenal’s striker need has intensified due to injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, leaving Arteta without a recognised striker and forcing midfielder Mikel Merino into that role.
