Darwin Nunez was brought in a couple of seasons ago to try and become the Reds’ talisman, and while he’s had the odd good performance here and there, the Uruguay international has often left a lot to be desired

Saudi Pro League clubs have been linked with an interest in Nunez, with his Liverpool career feeling as good as over, especially after he only managed to net seven goals across all competitions this term.

Benjamin Sesko could be a good alternative to Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike

Sesko, Isak and Ekitike are all more than solid striker options that Liverpool could explore over the next few months.

Indeed, Liverpool are about to spend a hefty chunk of change on the transfer of Florian Wirtz, but with the way things are headed, they should still have plenty of money in their war chest to improve their ranks.

Indeed, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have done an immense job at filling in when needed, but with Diaz potentially moving to Barcelona, attacking reinforcements are needed desperately.

Isak would be the best option of the three, but with Newcastle competing in the Champions League and the talisman being their best player, it’s hard to see how anything but a mammoth bid would pry him away from St James’ Park.

Ekitike is another solid option, but with a price tag of around £100million for a player who’s only had one prolific season, that also seems a bit steep.

That leaves Sesko. The Slovenia international is worth around £69million and has been setting the Bundesliga alight this term.
