Liverpool host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night – read a statistical preview of the tie here.

The Reds welcome the holders to Anfield for an 8pm BST kick-off and must overturn a 2-0 deficit from last week’s first meeting in Paris in order to progress to a semi-final against Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.

Liverpool FC welcomed Fulham FC to Anfield earlier this evening, aiming to secure a strong home result in the Premier League.

The Reds began the match on a solid note, gradually asserting control and showing attacking intent.

Their early pressure paid off in the 36th minute when Rio Ngumoha produced an excellent finish to break the deadlock. Just four minutes later, Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool’s advantage with a well-taken goal, giving the home side a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the halftime interval.

Under the guidance of Arne Slot, Liverpool managed the second half professionally. They controlled possession, limited Fulham’s attacking opportunities, and maintained their defensive structure to secure a convincing 2-0 victory in front of their supporters.

Looking at the individual performances, Liverpool’s goalkeeper played a crucial role by making several important saves to preserve the clean sheet. His composure and shot-stopping ability ensured Fulham never found a way back into the game.

At right-back, Jeremie Frimpong delivered a lively performance, contributing both defensively and offensively. He showed energy on the flank and supported attacks effectively. In central defence, Ibrahima Konaté was reliable, handling his defensive responsibilities well while also maintaining accuracy in his distribution from the back. Alongside him, Virgil van Dijk stood out with a commanding display. He organised the defence superbly, read the game well, and ensured Liverpool remained solid at the back throughout the match.

On the right wing, Salah was a constant danger, troubling Fulham’s defenders and capping off his performance with a well-deserved goal. Operating centrally in an advanced role, Florian Wirtz was creative and influential, setting up chances for teammates and registering an assist. On the left wing, Ngumoha was one of the standout performers, using his pace and skill to trouble defenders while also scoring the opening goal.

Leading the line, Cody Gakpo linked up play effectively and contributed with an assist, showcasing his importance in Liverpool’s attacking setup.

From the bench, Ryan Gravenberch injected fresh energy into midfield, while Alexis Mac Allister created a notable chance in the final third. Alexander Isak also featured but had a limited impact on the game.

Overall, it was a composed and efficient performance from Liverpool, as they secured a deserved victory through disciplined defending and clinical finishing.

The Premier League title race is really heating up heading into the final weeks of the 2025-26 season, with both Arsenal and Manchester City in with a huge chance of lifting the trophy. But what happens if nothing can separate the two English giants?

Well, it’s a scenario that’s never been seen before. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners hold the advantage as things stand with superior points (70) and goal difference (+38) tallies. At the time of writing, City are six points and three goals behind, while still having a game in hand to play.

If the two clubs were to finish the season level on points, then it’s well known that the next port of call would be goal difference. At this stage, it’s not outrageous to suggest that Arsenal and City could also tie on that metric.

Should that be the case, the team with the most goals scored would take home the trophy. At the time of writing, Man City lead that column in the table by a single effort, having found the net 63 times compared to Arsenal’s 62.

Things then start to get even more technical as the same points, goal difference and goals scored would lead officials to look at the head-to-head records when the two sides met. After the 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the campaign, the same result at the Etihad would make matters even more complicated.

Should that match end in a draw with a different scoreline, then the team with the most away goals in those head-to-head clashes would be crowned champions. If the title rivals still can’t be separated, which is extremely unlikely, admittedly, then they would have to face each other in a one-off playoff match at a neutral venue. This has never happened before.
