Bukayo Saka provides huge update on Arsenal contract situation

Bukayo Saka has provided a major update on his contract situation, with his current deal running until the summer of 2027

Bukayo Saka has moved to ease fears over his Arsenal future, saying he is “in no rush” to sign a new contract but reaffirming his love for the club and desire to win trophies in North London

The 23-year-old winger, widely regarded as one of Arsenal’s most influential players in recent years, is under contract until 2027 but recent speculation has raised questions over his long-term future at the Emirates.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid, Saka made clear that while talks over a contract extension have yet to formally begin, he remains committed to the club he’s supported since childhood.

“I want to win and I want to win wearing this badge,” Saka said. “I think it’s pretty clear. The fans know how much I love them and you saw when I came on on Tuesday [against Fulham], I think they love me back. It’s a good relationship and I’m really happy to be here and just focus on winning here.”

Saka added that he is “relaxed” about the timing of contract negotiations, pointing out that there is still time left on his current deal. “I don’t think anybody’s really in a rush. I’ve got two years left on my contract so it’s pretty relaxed. Everyone knows my thoughts and I’ve let you guys know as well. I don’t think there’s any rush really.”

The England international has made 252 appearances for the Gunners, notching an impressive 133 goal contributions. His absence over the past four months due to a hamstring injury coincided with a dip in Arsenal’s title challenge, underlining his importance to Mikel Arteta’s side.

With the Premier League title looking increasingly likely to head to Liverpool, the Champions League represents Arsenal’s best chance of silverware this season. Saka returned to action last week, scoring within minutes of his comeback, and featured again in Saturday’s draw against Everton.

Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Saka could be in contention to start against Real Madrid. “He’s in a much better place. Gradually we have built his minutes in the last six or seven days,” Arteta said. “He’s coped with that really well and he’s in a good place to be able to be used.”

Arsenal are expected to open formal talks with Saka soon. The winger currently earns around £300,000 per week, including bonuses.
