Virgil van Dijk Receives New Contract Offer from Liverpool
Virgil van Dijk has received a contract offer from Liverpool. The deal for the 33-year-old defender of the Netherlands national team is set to run until the summer of 2025, mirroring the terms of contracts for Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool has already made an initial offer to van Dijk. However, the proposal did not meet the player’s expectations. So far, there has been no breakthrough in the negotiations regarding the financial terms and duration of the agreement. Discussions have been ongoing for some time. All three leaders of the Reds are playing a central role in the impressive start to the season under new head coach Arne Slot.
Negotiations are also continuing between Liverpool and Trent. His age (26) and status as a club academy graduate distinguish this situation from the negotiations with 32-year-old Salah and van Dijk. There is tangible interest from Real Madrid in the right-back, but, like his teammates, there is still uncertainty about how this will all end.
