Arsenal have made Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres their top striker target for the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old has become one of the world’s leading strikers with the Portuguese giants and looks set for a move to the Premier League this summer.

Football Insider revealed last month (28 April) that Man United are increasingly confident their move to sign Sporting superstar Gyokeres is a “done deal”.

However, Arsenal are also prioritising a move for a striker and have set their sights on landing the Sweden international.

Arsenal ready to gazump Man United in Gyokeres race

The Gunners are likely to have Champions League football to offer next term – which can only be matched by United if they win the Europa League.

It has been widely reported that Gyokeres will cost around £60million this summer and that fee will provide no problem for either club.

He has hit 52 goals and notched 13 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions this term.

The ex-Brighton and Coventry star is under contract with Sporting until June 2028.

One potential edge for Man United in the race could be Gyokeres’ relationship with Ruben Amorim – who can take big credit for the hitman’s development in recent years.

Trossard could pledge his future to Arsenal.

Arsenal in talks to agree Trossard deal

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (10 May) that Arsenal are in advanced talks with Leandro Trossard over a new four-year contract.

Trossard is due to enter the final year of his contract at Arsenal this summer and the club are keen to reward him with a new deal.

The 30-year-old has hit 10 goals in 54 appearances this season, adding nine assists.
