According to Le Parisien, France head coach Didier Deschamps has called up Marseille centre-back Benjamin Pavard as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate.
The Liverpool defender wasn’t involved in the 3-0 win against Azerbaijan in the World Cup Qualifiers last night due to a quadriceps injury and is expected to withdraw from the national duty ahead of the next game against Iceland.
Meanwhile, Pavard has made an excellent start to his spell in Ligue 1 with Marseille, quickly establishing himself as a cornerstone in Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Les Minots have decided to make his loan from Inter Milan into a permanent transfer for around €15 million.

After arriving with fitness issues at Clairefontaine, Ibrahima Konaté will leave the French national team camp and return to Liverpool.
Having stayed on the bench during France’s 3–0 win over Azerbaijan, he will not travel with the squad to Iceland on Monday.
Didier Deschamps said that he arrived at the camp tired, but a clear quadriceps issue kept him out of team training.
The centre-back trained separately from the main group at Clairefontaine, completing a light jog alongside Kylian Mbappe
