Frimpong Reportedly Completes Liverpool Medical and Picks Shirt Number

Liverpool’s first signing of the summer could arrive before the 2024-25 season is even officially

With Liverpool wrapping up their 20th domestic league title with a month to spare while chasers Arsenal have fallen off, the final weeks of the 2024-25 Premier League season hasn’t been the focus it might have been in some other years.

The players have been on vacation in between matches ever since, most recently spotted frolicking in the rooftop pools of Dubai, while manager Arne Slot has been seen living it up in Ibiza. Not everyone involved in the club has been celebrating, though.

For sporting director Richard Hughes, the focus has been on lining up new signings—and since Trent Alexander-Arnold announced he would leave his on a free to join Real Madrid, they’ve moved quickly to shore up the right back position.

On Saturday, it was reported personal terms had been agreed with Bayer Leverkusen’s rapid 24-year-old right back Jeremie Frimpong, his club informed the Reds would officially trigger his £30M release clause, and that a medical was booked.

Today, reliable reports have the medical done. It is also being suggested the player intends to keep his shirt number at Leverkusen, number 30, when he signs for his new club. Now, about the only question left is when the move goes official.
