Harry Kane is keeping tight-lipped on reports that he could make a shock move to Arsenal in Summer, because of a release clause in his Bayern Munich contract.
Harry Kane breaks silence on Bayern transfer clause as Arsenal backed for stunning move
Harry Kane is reportedly considering a move back to the Premier League. He left Tottenham 18 months ago to join Bayern Munich in a deal worth £82 million. Since his move, Kane has continued to score goals in Germany. Recently, rumors have emerged that Kane’s contract with Bayern Munich includes a release clause that would allow him to be bought for £54 million when it becomes active in January 2026. In January, a buy-out clause of £67 million was reportedly in effect.
This news has led some to believe that Kane might return to England. However, when asked about it after scoring two penalties in Bayern’s 3-0 win over Werder Bremen, Kane did not confirm anything. He said he was happy at Bayern and refused to comment on the release clause. Many English clubs are reportedly interested in signing him, including his former club Tottenham and Manchester United. However, the most surprising interest is from Arsenal, who are looking for a new top striker for next season.
Former Arsenal player Paul Merson believes that Arsenal should make a bold move for Kane in the summer, despite the rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham. On Sky Sports, Merson said that Arsenal should buy Kane for £64 million. He pointed out that players like Sol Campbell had made similar moves in the past. Merson argued that even though Kane is getting older, Arsenal need a proven striker if they are to challenge for the title.
He added that if Arsenal have not won the league yet, they should take a chance on Kane. Merson mentioned that if Kane’s release clause is £64 million, only a few teams could afford to buy him. Tottenham could try to bring him back, but Merson suggested that Kane would need to win something at Bayern before considering a return to his old club. He said that if Kane does not win anything at Bayern, it would be hard for him to go back to Tottenham and expect to win trophies.
