Harry Kane makes final decision on Premier League return after shock Liverpool links

Liverpool were linked with Harry Kane last month, as the Bayern Munich striker continues to bang in the goals and is aiming to win the treble with the German giants this season

England captain Harry Kane has shut down rumours that he’ll be returning to the Premier League this summer. Kane, 31, was recently linked with a shock move to Liverpool but insists that he’s ‘extremely happy’ with German heavyweights Bayern Munich.

The former Tottenham striker finally left England in August 2023 after years of transfer speculation. Bayern paid Spurs an initial £82million for Kane, who’s been nothing short of a sensation in the Bundesliga.

Despite being unable to lead Bayern to a trophy last season, their worst campaign since 2011-12, Kane scored a stunning 44 goals in 45 games across all competitions. After helping England reach the final of last season’s European Championship, he’s kept up that form this season with another 33 strikes in 38 appearances as Bayern go for the trable.

Kane’s contract is valid for another two-and-a-half years – until June 2027 – but speculation has simmered over a return to the Premier League. It was reported last month that champions elect Liverpool were interested in signing him but the 31-year-old has poured cold water on those claims.

When asked if he’d consider returning to England one day, Kane told ESPN: “I’m not sure. I’ve said throughout my whole career, I’m not someone who likes to think too far ahead.

“I’m extremely happy here. I think we have a fantastic team, fantastic coaching staff and I just feel like whilst I feel like I’m in the best condition, I wanna play at the highest level possible, and this is as high as it gets,

“So I know a lot can change in football in a short space of time and things can happen, but ultimately my focus is here. I’m not thinking about any other league or any other team. And with football, I like to just go the flow and at the moment the flow is here at Bayern Munich.”

Kane, whose family moved to join him in Germany in January 2024, recently said that the ‘aura’ of playing for Bayern increased his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or. He also believes that the pressure and high stakes which come with playing for Bayern have taken his game to another level.
