Mikel Arteta attends Arsenal press conference before Nottingham Forest clash
Mikel Arteta is set to face the media at the Sobha Realty Training Centre before Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
There are some concerns regarding fitness as Ethan Nwaneri came off at the end of the match against West Ham. Myles Lewis-Skelly is suspended and so Arteta will be coping with yet another absence from the team.
The main talking points will naturally be around the response from the defeat to West Ham against what has been a very impressive Forest side this season. Mikel Merino might have worked as a super substitute at Leicester, but disappointed from the start against the Hammers.
How Arteta structures his side for this game is very intriguing, with some having suggested a back five could be a way to quell the issues defensively and in wide areas. Whether the Spaniard provides any clues remains to be seen.
You can hear everything Arteta has to say on all that and much more with football.london’s chief Arsenal correspondent Tom Canton in our live blog below.
Writers have their say on the Arsenal blame game
Listen to some football pundits and the Premier League title race is over. Paddy Power have even paid out already on bets for Liverpool to win the league.
The Reds opened up an 11-point lead at the top of the table at the weekend, albeit having played a game more than second-place Arsenal. Arne Slot’s team won 2-0 at Manchester City, a day after the Gunners were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home by West Ham.
It looks a long way back for Arsenal now, who have been given opportunities by Liverpool in the last few weeks. Opportunities they have not taken.
Despite calling for reinforcements in the January transfer window, Arsenal did not sign a single player. So who is to blame for the Gunners falling off the horse and missing out on the Premier League title for a third year in a row, if as expected Liverpool canter to the crown?
