Arsenal ‘Agree’ Personal Terms to Sign £200,000-a-Week ‘Superstar’
Arsenal have reached an agreement on personal terms with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to CaughtOffside.
Sesko’s transfer fee remains the main issue in negotiations, as Leipzig have set their asking price at €80m (£67m), which matches his release clause.
Arsenal are believed to be trying to negotiate that fee down, and talks between the parties have taken place in London in recent days to try and bring the valuations closer.
Arsenal Working on Benjamin Sesko Deal
Confident of signing the 22-year-old striker
According to CaughtOffside, there is confidence on all sides that a full agreement will eventually be reached for Sesko’s summer move to Arsenal.
Leipzig general manager Marcel Schafer and Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta held meetings in London in recent days to discuss Sesko’s transfer, as he remains a striker priority for Mikel Arteta.
Sesko was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, before he signed a new five-year deal with Leipzig, keeping him at the club until June 2029.
However, 12 months later, the 22-year-old ‘superstar’ is now expected to leave and could demand wages of around £200,000 a week at his next club.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Sesko has scored 21 goals in 45 appearances for Leipzig this season.
Arsenal are expected to announce Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their first summer arrival, having reached an agreement in principle with the Spain international last month.
The Gunners are expected to activate his €60m (£51m) release clause and make him Declan Rice’s new midfield partner next season.
