Liverpool have made a perfect start to the Champions League with a 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid. Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah scored the goals inside six minutes, but Marcos Llorente – who famously scored twice at Anfield for Atletico in 2020 – controversially prodded the visitors back into the game during first-half injury time.

His deflected effort seemed to have earned a point nine minutes from time. However, Virgil van Dijk’s header in the second minute of stoppage time sealed the win and Atletico boss Diego Simeone was subsequently sent off.
